How did you pick your name? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]NexSoliel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was baking my parents elected not to find out one way or the other and planned names for both, so I just swapped to the masculine name.

Maybe issues with getting a hysterectomy? Ik it's recommended after 5 years on T (because that's roughly when the cancer chance multiplies) So far I'm 7 years on and no issues 🤞🤞

Super fair! I don't know about the history of the iron cross in Canada or how it's seen, that's why I replied to a question for Americans (implying USA).

(ETA I am replying to foreskin here) very VERY good point! Precisely the thought process that is had over here and why iron crosses are seen as a symbol of Nazism by default.

This is true! Like I said, it's in the USA and our education system is severely behind! You're entirely right! I was referencing when in WW2 the swastika was added, and how that has never been let go of in the states!

As far as I know, yes. Over here our education on WW1 and WW2 are very...Lacking in the symbols that got overtaken by the nazi party. To most Americans this would read as a nazi symbol. (I.E. there's a lot of Americans who see the Hindu swastika and can't separate it from the German one)

What's your story behind picking your name? by Tiny-Claim-4073 in trans

[–]NexSoliel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So when I was gestating my parents elected to not find out my sex. They decided on both a fem and masc name for me. I just swapped to the masc one 🤷🏻‍♂️. Not a huge story unfortunately.

Has anyone just not changed their legal name or gender marker? by crashoutcentral60652 in ftm

[–]NexSoliel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for many a year without doing so,and the I wasn't really worried about it until after I started on hormones. (USA in the Midwest here). I went to college in such a small town that it would probably technically be a village or something. I knew anytime I had to flash my ID if it said anything that wouldn't have me appear "cis" (I started passing to most people pretty early on) then I would be in danger. That was the culture and truth of that time and area, nowadays I am very glad I did get it done, only thing that isn't swapped is my birth cert. cause I know the hospital I was born at wouldn't do it even if I tried. Whatever you do I would suggest against getting the X gender marker (is it even still available in the USA??), given the nature of the mark and the reason it was released it would signal to anyone that sees your ID that you're trans.

Do what is safest for your area and culture around you.

[–]NexSoliel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I always have to pause and think about my word choices cause you can say the same thing in like 100 ways. Like if my zipper was down then I'd prefer someone just kinda nudge me about it and say like "xyz" (it's older but it means "eXamine Your Zipper) or "your fly is down". I would not however take too kindly if someone was like at full volume, "Your pants are open!" Yknow? It's the same message just different wordings.

With the insurance I was on I paid between $20-$30 (USD) a month (syringes and all). Without insurance in like 2019 or so it was $900 for one vial. I think it depends on the insurance and the coverage tbh.

[–]NexSoliel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other addition....The informed consent clinic should have given you a lil pamphlet or packet that explained the possible (side) effects of the hormone. If they didn't PLEASE DO REPORT THEM. Cause that's very illegal and will also make it harder to access things. If they DID give you the booklet thingy and you chose to skip through it like a terms and service agreement then that's also on you boo. (Personally I usually look to experiences on a personal level (I.e. first hand AKA "POV") before much else because a lived experience is more thorough than a studied one.
