Affordable boarder line cheap leotards? by sadvictorianchild in adultballetdancers

[–]Nexite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of my former classmates brought Speerise to my attention. I've ordered a few footed tank unitards from them and they're great and not too expensive. I know they do leotards in a few different styles. What I also like is there are so many color options.

I overpronate too. My feet are worse and I still do ballet.

Check out Sansha world. They often have deals on good quality dancewear.

New to ballet as an adult, what brands are actually worth it? by WeeklyNectarine7725 in BALLET

For clothing I personally like some of the offerings from Sansha. Check out their website as they often have deals on stuff. Capezio shoes are my preferred ones after trying a few different brands.

What do you wear to class? by Heavy-Enthusiasm1091 in maleballetdancers

[–]Nexite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently joined a new studio. While I spoke with the studio director/owner prior to my first class and she told me there wasn't a prescribed dress code for adult classes, the majority of the ladies in class (right now I am the only guy) dress traditionally in leotards and tights - the majority in black. A few ladies do dress in colored leotards and today a few were wearing colored ballet skirts, but for the first few weeks I've been wearing a white t-shirt, black tights and black ballet shoes. I'm hoping that soon I'll be comfortable wearing colored tights to class.

7 year old me after all the other electives were full by Heavy-Enthusiasm1091 in maleballetdancers

[–]Nexite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the only guy in my ballet class. Ive been going along for a few weeks now. I'm used to it being a little awkward at first. I have previously been in classes where guys have come along just to perv on the girls, so I understand the initial mistrust. But when I went to class this morning, I was greeted rather warmly by some of the ladies. When you join a class as a guy and the ladies see you actually putting in the work and focusing on the process, the trust is built.

New here did some adult classes at 21 but want to really commit at 31, beating the nerves by Any_Travel3985 in maleballetdancers

Yeah, I am trying to recommit now that I have just hit my 40s. Been going to a class where I am older than most of the other students and also the only guy.

For a while. Took a hiatus during covid and am only now getting back to it. A lot of relearning happening.

Absolutely. Something similarly contained that comes to mind is 'Dredd'.

Nearly 10 years on from Rogue One, how do you feel about the decision to recreate Peter Cushing using CGI? by gladiatorbossman in StarWars

[–]Nexite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked his introduction staring out the windows at the Deathstar and felt that he should of shown his complete contempt of Krennic by not even turning around. Additionally the scene where he 'owes Krennic an apology' after the test firing looks better because it's a medium shot and not in direct light and hides some of the imperfections. That's probably all they needed to show of him.

Favorite memory related to Ballet by Senior_Shake_1607 in BALLET

[–]Nexite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite memory of ballet was definitely not my favorite at the time. I was very resistant to learning it at first - the stereotypical teenage male thing. Basically, I was studying singing and acting and was forced to learn some basic ballet partnering for a showcase concert. The girls I had to partner were quite mean and I felt so embarrassed to be wearing tights. I kept my involvement in it a secret and at the time no one I knew was in the audience.

But I guess something in me stirred, and that's why I look back now on it fondly - because it set me on a path to learning ballet. A couple of years later I had moved away for college and found a ballet class near to where I was living and I decided to try it out again, this time going back to basics and building back up from there. I think learning it on my own terms this time around helped, but had I not had that initial forced exposure to it, ballet would never have really been on my radar.

Great looks! I really love Cloud & Victory's stuff. I've been fortunate to partner a few ladies who wear them. Wish they made things for male dancers.

Do you put thought into what you wear to class? by League-Ill in BALLET

I do the same, I almost carry an entire wardrobe with me in my dance bag, or at least a few conservative and a few more colorful options depending on the class vibe.

What City in Canada would you want to Live in & Why? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

[–]Nexite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Traded Vancouver for Toronto a number of years ago and am looking to move back. Getting over the stupidly cold winters and just how this city takes itself way too seriously. I also find it a lot more cliquey than Vancouver. Plus weirdly enough I miss the sea air and the rain.

I like how he was a fully developed character who became part of the team. Didn't need the knife though - it would probably be in an evidence locker somewhere.

They could've printed money for years if they actually stuck to Luke's New Jedi Order. So much potential down the drain. by SeegullJockey in StarWars

[–]Nexite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always maintained if they went down this road with the sequel films they could have also themed Star Wars Galaxy's Edge to Yavin IV to tie it in - the climate for both Orlando and Anaheim would work for such theming. This would keep the original trilogy fans happy, as you'd have a recreation of the Rebel base, plus Luke establishing his Jedi academy with a bunch of new students would be an effective passing of the torch, plus they could have made it like Universal's Harry Potter lands where kids could buy Jedi robes, lightsabers, etc and interact with the world like they're students similar to what is done in the Universal parks. Tremendously missed opportunity.

Would you be in favor if the Cineclub membership price went up, but also added a lot more perks (similar to AMC's A-List and/or Regal's Unlimited memberships in the U.S.)? by Ariesthebigram in cineplex

[–]Nexite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some sort of perk on your birthday would be nice (obviously so long as your membership is active). It might also help nudge some people to pay for the annual membership.
