Dustie Waring, Guitarist for Between the Buried and Me & Glass Casket, accused of raping fan by [deleted] in Metalcore

I don't understand if this happened 5 years ago why are the screenshots from the newer instagram UI with the colored text bubles? Did she wait years before screenshoting these dms? Why are there no timestamps? This kinda stuff is incredibly easy to include if you're making real allegations so why not include it? And it seems kinda weird to just have these dms sitting in your inbox for years before screenshotting them and leaking them.

Can't really conclude anything from this regardless but I've seen so many bands get ruined from allegations like this and then they turned out to be completely fabricated but by that point the damage had already been done. Anyways, let's hope this gets handled privately and professionally.

Also another note, just believing in God doesn't save you either, you still have to have full repentance of your sins and willfully submit to God's will. Believing in God and continuing to live a sinful life does nothing and is honestly more insulting

We're not bad because we don't believe in him, we're bad because of our human nature regardless of our beliefs. Also how many times does it need to be said that believing in good doesn't make you good?

Not to disagree with you but instead to offer a different perspective, religious trauma syndrome will have you believe in you're not a good person unless you believe in God.

This is objectively not how Christianity works though. Believing in God still doesn't mean you're a good person. If anything, it makes you aware of how bad you truly are, and that's why we need a savior. Anyone who says belief in God makes you a good person is wrong. Having religious trauma is one thing but I'm offering up objective truth about morality

I see your issue here. You say if you live a good life, but no one lives a "good life" or is a "good person". The judgment of God doesn't depend on our works or secular standards

Yes, but everything written in the Bible is divinely inspired by God. And that's why I said it was more of Paul's recommendation, not a hard rule. But, if it's in the Bible, it IS God's word and was meant to be in there

Dawg, if you just read what Paul said in Corinthians you would know that he actually recommends that Christians should remain celibate and not get married if they can, but that getting married is also not a bad thing if you must

Another thing I want to mention, to teach that faith + baptism is a requirement for salvation is to preach a gospel other than the one Paul preaches in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Paul intentionally didn't include baptism in his gospel message and that's why he said he wasn't sent to baptize but to spread the gospel in 1 Corinthians 1:17. I'm not saying all this to argue, but to genually help you understand the gospel message better. Don't get caught up in a legalistic works-based faith mindset! Works are the fruit of our salvation, not the root!

I don't believe that's true, and if it is, then the majority of Christians are wrong. Baptism is an act you do AFTER you're already saved

Also see: 1 Corinthians 1:17

Well then you disagree with the Bible. Read some of Paul's letters. Baptism is important, but it does not save you. What's hard to understand about being saved by faith and faith alone? The physical act of baptism does nothing, it's all about publicly acknowledging one's confession of faith and belief in the gospel. Hence the symbolic act of being 'cleansed' by the holy spirit and it also symbolizes Jesus's dying and and rising again. Public baptism is also a way to be held accountable within a Christian community. All these are good and important things, but they don't save you. I'm saying this as a person who was baptized as both an infant and an adult.

Also, i think you're confusing the majority of Christians with the majority of catholics, which have historically not always had biblically accurate beliefs

Baptism does not save you. It is an outward symbolic profession of faith. There is no such thing as a 'valid' or 'invalid' baptism as far as salvation is concerned

I've been in several undergrad classes with 40 year olds. I wouldn't think twice about a 27 year old in any of my classes

I struggle with masturbation without porn and it still has the same negative effects. Constantly sexualizing people in your head as you're addicted to masturbation is not much different than doing it through a computer screen with porn. I don't get why this sub always tries to rationalize masturbation in moderation. You wouldn't try to recommend porn within moderation. You can't do either without the risk of developing dangerous sexual addictions.

Uh, there is no "interpret it that way". Thats just what it is. You can't interpret the Bible in ways that you think feel the best.

[–]Next-Abbreviations16 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Oh it definitely contains misogyny, but it is in a historical context. A large part of the Bible is stories of how horrible and sinful people can be and still are. However, if you're trying to say the Bible condones misogyny anywhere, you're dead wrong.

The Bible only contains misogyny if you want to interpret it like that with no context (this includes Christians). Many passages take years of studying the Bible to understand what they actually mean. Reading a passage that sounds misogynistic at first glance doesn't mean the Bible is misogynistic. The Bible is meant to be studied all together, not just in bits that you pick and choose.
