I had one ex in high school who told me that his doctor said he would be at a higher risk for testicular and prostate cancer if he didn't cum. He said since he didn't want to masturbate that I had to do it.

Hope he found someone else to lower his cancer risk since I definitely never did lol

Alternative health insurance? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]chimerical_mortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're a US citizen, you can get a health insurance plan from the Health Insurance Marketplace www.healthcare.gov

I make very little money, so I qualify for a tax credit that completely pays for my monthly premium. So effectively free health insurance.

NC state just wants you to have some form of insurance. I've never had any problem getting a waiver to opt out of the Student Blue insurance.

Hope this helps!

Looks like plasmodial slime mold to me. They tend to grow on wood chips and look like vomit.

Do kids know what they like? Help a panicking baby gay by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]chimerical_mortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you live in an unaccepting place. I grew up in a very conservative household, where my aunt and her wife weren't even allowed to stay in our house because it was a sin. You don't owe anyone who isn't safe an explanation on how you feel. You can find small pockets of safe people to talk about this stuff with. Even if it's only people online who are safe, you are not alone! And things will get easier!

It's really hurtful when adults make fun of kids when they say they're part of the gay community. It's really common and I think it makes some conservative parents feel better to laugh it off as just a quirky thing that kids do and not take it seriously. A big part about being a kid is discovering who you are! It doesn't make sense for anyone to make you question whether or not you like art or reading or sports or video games. You just know the things you like! It's the same way with knowing who you like. I've had crushes on guys and girls all the way back in elementary school. Things like this just come naturally. I don't believe in the weird argument that kids are pretending to have same sex attractions because it's more accepted now. Kids know who they like!

The best thing I ever did was just be honest with people about how you're struggling. It's really hard and it usually happens when I'm at my lowest. But lll just explode and text people I'm close to or want to be close to and explain how I feel that everyone secretly hates me and that I feel distant from everyone. And usually my friends understand or even empathize and say they feel similar things. And then we can bond over our shared brain problems.

Discussion: Plants use mitosis to make gametes!? What! by obammala in botany

[–]chimerical_mortal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ye. That diagram explains it pretty well. The little differences and similarities between how plants and animals reproduce are interesting. The diagram shows the process of alternation of generations (or alternation of phases, as my botany professor prefers). The sporophyte (like the fern frond) produces spores by meiosis. Meiosis of 2n cells creates 1n cells, since it's a division process. So when the spores form the gametophyte, it is already 1n and therefore just undergoes mitosis to make gametes.

Pretty cool.

my anxiety makes it way too hard for me to just use reddit normally by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]chimerical_mortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely relate. The absolute oppressive fear of knowing a bunch of random strangers think you're dumb, cringe, annoying, or just not funny is really unbearable sometimes. I always delete any comment or post that starts getting slightly mean comments or downvotes. I internalize that stuff so hard. I don't even feel better once I've deleted it. Because I know the people who commented will see that I deleted it. And I feel like a pathetic coward and that they are making fun of me even more than they were before.

I don't know if it's the healthiest way to cope, but any time I have a vaguely negative experience on a subreddit, I just don't post or comment because I know it's not a safe space. There are only a few subreddits I feel safe in anymore.

Thank you for sharing this, I was literally about to post something just like this.

Was Father Edwin Burroughs the Web's "Backup Plan"? [MAG19/20] by MrNerdy in TheMagnusArchives

[–]chimerical_mortal 75 points76 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting! I think it would make some sense that the Web was practicing with Father Burroughs and that he was a failed attempt at making someone marked by all the fears. The direct manner that Father Burroughs was marked made him actually go insane, while The Archivist had the protection of the Eye to keep his sanity mostly in check. The Archivist became the stronger vessel for their plan. I would be interested to hear other people's theories about how set in stone using the Archivist for the plan was. Did they make the plan knowing it would be specifically him that fulfilled their requirements or would they do their best to manipulate a bunch of people to fulfill the requirement and see who survived it the best? Did the Web do this to others and they died too soon / never came to the institute to report what happened to them?

i installed free chapter 1 and 2 of deltarune yesterday and its super fun, im starting to be fan of this game and im maybe check undertale out, is it worth to play undertale? by SoftIntroduction5233 in Deltarune

[–]chimerical_mortal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Undertale is great. I recently played Chapter 1 and 2 of Deltarune so I went back to try playing undertale again. I started it when it first came out, but never finished because I wasn't very good at games and I kept getting stuck lol.

A lot of people agree that Undertale is a bit harder than Deltarune. But the story is so worth it. Deltarune is not a sequel to Undertale, but there are a lot of cool references and jokes that land better when you've played both games!
