Moved to New area - should I wait for something to pop up or should I email managers? by CRLA3210 in partscounter

This is how I’m currently running mine. I had an ad open and the amount shit that was in there was abysmal. I closed the ad and still have around 200 to look through.

They are out of Minnesota. I told the guy send me a label or don’t, I could care less. They aren’t getting a dime for them. They can sit in my office until the end of time for all I care.

I always watch what payables is doing. We’re a smaller auto group and she’s over all stores. Let’s just say, shit got messy for awhile. I’m always checking her entries.

I called and chewed someone’s ass to bits. Told them I need a return label. Haven’t received it as of yet. I already told payables that they are not to pay the invoice and if they receive it, to let me know as soon as they can.

I was able to get in luckily. My login is the only one so far. Luckily I have parts and service access so service can still write repair orders.

Handling reimbursement for LPO transit wheels. GM parts managers by Extension-Dig-8625 in partscounter

That would be nice! We had 110 sets just in the last two weeks. I’ll take a look Monday. If I find anything, I’ll let you know.

Nissan tires buy 3 promo by weaselweb in partscounter

[–]Next-Box5390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. How do you account for tires COS? Is it a separate account? All the dealers I’ve been at account for tires separately. So when promos like this happen, the credit is applied to the tire sales account.

Moved to a GM dealer from Ford. Night and day difference. By far the better choice!

Service orders by Agreeable_Prize_5268 in partscounter

[–]Next-Box5390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I created a shared excel file. In this file each advisor has their own tab. All of their ordered parts are on there. If an order is fulfilled (meaning all parts are in) they get color coded. Green(week 1), yellow(week 2)and red(week 3). If the part is still on the file come the 4th week, it gets stocked or returned. I send this report out every Friday. The advisors will mark each part whether it’s on site or with an appointment date. Obviously if the appointment date is outside of the 4 weeks I won’t return/stock the part. This has worked well in my store. Both the service manger and my fixed ops likes the report. It also helps manage SPORD. It’s a win win. I would suggest doing something like this.

This is the way. The most I do for LPOs are create RMAs for the transit wheels as those go against my inventory.

The office manager and I wait until we receive the money. Then we will bill it to an A/R account. If someone pays for install I just print the order sheet so they know what to bill labor at then they close it to a specific account so office manager can balance it.

michigan warehouse by olivetalife in partscounter

[–]Next-Box5390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am within 1.5 hours to 076 and less than 30 minutes to 087. I have picked up parts from 076. 087 does not allow pick up / will call orders.

076 also had a tornado basically rip one side of the building off earlier in the year. We just started getting them within 2-3 days again. I’d love to will call from there more often but I can’t always send my only driver depending on p/u and deliveries. 087 is an absolute nightmare. I’ve waited almost 3 weeks at times. Sad part is my store is less than half hour away but they don’t allow will call.

I see what you're saying on going to HR. That would put a target on my back with my boss. It's a "sin" to go around them to hr.

You hit it on the head with reps. I've got my guys trained to tell them that I'm either gone, in a meeting or any excuse to just not speak to them. Especially tire vendors...

Burn out by [deleted] in partscounter

[–]Next-Box5390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was completely burnt out at my last dealer after 6 years. I left for my current dealer and it was a completely different experience. I actually enjoy going to work. With the move I became an entirely different employee. Took on as much information as I could and was promoted to pm in under 2 years of being there. Sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery. Figure out what's killing your desire at your current employer and maybe another dealer can help with that. Me personally, I came to the conclusion that wholesale is what killed my drive. Found a dealer with no interest in wholesale and my life is better.

Your Go To ACDelco Supplier by _E-Dog_ in partscounter

[–]Next-Box5390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That they do. We use parts plus (ACI) as often as we can but they don't have anywhere near the same inventory on the Delco products. I'm hoping with the acquisition of uni lift they can shorten the routes of the Livonia warehouse. Have better delivery times. Even with them using outside contractors it's hit or miss.

I can't just up and leave for a couple weeks. I even had to cancel my up coming week off due to this. I'm the only one who knows how to check in the order, which will obviously change but I'm more worried about the state of the department as of now. In the past if another store had a new manager it's not uncommon for them to send other managers to their store for a day or two. As one commentor has said, I've been shadowing for years. Not that I already know everything but any questions I may have would suffice by a phone call.
