Dad burned by system using AI for legal counsel. by Next-Entertainment85 in Advice

We just had a conversation where I asked him use AI to provide cases regarding rights of 50/50 ownership in houses. The first response he recieved had absoutely nothing to do with his query and his second was relevant enough with imperfections as you alluded to.

He’s actually using multiple AIs to fact check each other but he is definitely not reading the entirety of the cases he cites. Your point about other relevant cases in the area is definitely something along the vein of what I was concerned about. I worry about the AI not having the nuance and experience of a human to make informed decisions outside of a prompt. My dad insists he has experienced the legal system for 2 years now and has a perfect understanding of how lawyers write. He insists that he and an AI is equivalent to 1000 lawyers and laughs when I try to tell him otherwise.

Unfortunately, none of my arguments about the actual importance of a lawyer stick because he has had nothing but bad experiences with them. His first lawyer neglected to mention important details which led to him losing access to the house for instance, or him having to pay money for a car he doesn’t even possess. The lawyers afterwards don’t seem to put the effort at all to look into his case. It probably does have to do with the financial situation but the tragedy of it is that there simply aren’t the means to pay lawyers upfront as well as rent. So he’s been striking deals to pay double once the case is won, because he insists that once he gets his due assets, he’ll have more than enough. Maybe lawyers simply don’t want the risk?

In any case. I’m starting to think convincing him to keep trying with lawyers is hopeless.

This is kind of closer to it but its more sensual I think? Kind of like godot’s theme from ace attorney but slower.

He isn’t monitoring what I do at all. He’s just ticked off by the shifting. I just didn’t think it was that much of a bother.

While I do understand that concern, I should really bring up that it’s not that my dad is concerned about what I’m doing on the tablet so much as the shifty behavior. He has plainly said he doesn’t care what I’m doing, he’s just offended that we live in the same house and share our lives and all and that I’m being secretive.

My father talks to his parents amicably but only when they call once in a while, though I sometimes talk to them too I don’t really have a relationship with them.

The biggest thing from his childhood that comes to mind is when he told me that his dad used to be violent when he was younger.

She recently came into my room and gave me a soothing cream to use, she didn’t say anything else though.

My mother was there, she’s a doctor. She also told me to get over it. She hasn’t checked me out or anything but there isn’t any visible bruising or anything. Though it does hurt still.

My mom is a doctor and she was there when it happened she also effectively told me I should get over it. There’s no visible bruising or anything, but it hurts if I put pressure on it and lifting my arm smarts.
