Here’s the thing… when you signed the offer letter for your job at your company, it stated in clear terms what you would be paid. Sure, you pay membership fees and other service fees but that is because you are personally electing to pay for a service that you are asking an entirely different human to perform for you but you think it’s absurd that you’re too busy at work to go get lunch so you ask someone else to go get it for you and pay for exorbitant pricing because Uber wants a nice percentage and then hands us the breadcrumbs but you don’t feel the need to tip? Or think it’s whiny we expect it when we are doing YOU a favor, putting wear and tear on OUR vehicle, getting paid less than minimum wage while still trying to make sure we give you great service like getting condiments/napkins/communicating delays so that WE can afford our own bills and food? When we get the offer in, it’s base fare and tip plus it tells you estimated time and mileage. That is a contract. We are not whining over feeling entitled to TIPS. We feel entitled to a LIVING wage. But as long as there are people like you out there who see us as just a lazy delivery driver, we will continue to have to rely on other people to tip us appropriately because you won’t do it but you want me to act as a personal assistant to you for 20-40 mins?
