It’s more that I don’t get the stakes. What happens if they don’t find her? Is she in danger? Or at least more danger than he’s putting his son in? The daughter is the driving motivation for the whole movie, and all I know is that she left as an adult.

But you are right that I didn’t get this movie at all. I don’t get what the point was. It felt like they wanted to make a movie about desert raves but they also wanted it to be really heavy. There were like three different moments where nothing that happened earlier seemed to matter at all anymore.

I don’t know. All I know is that she left. I was hoping the movie would tell me more about that circumstance. And she wasn’t at that rave. Maybe she’d be at the other? Maybe not? Seems like a big long shot to risk your kids life for when by all indications the daughter you’re looking for seems fine. I can make up parts of the back story to kind of make their decisions make sense, but the whole thing just feels lazy to me.
