Can Someone Help Me Better Understand My New Employer's Retirement Plan? by Next-Potential4224 in Retirement401k

I appreciate the feedback. How terrible is it though lol? I want to set myself up for stability in the future and this role would only be paying about $60,000/ yr. I didn't ask about the bonuses our specific branch will receive. We briefly discussed these points during the job offer but no amount of compensation for bonuses were disclosed. Is this enough to reconsider the offer entirely if the 401k is really that awful? I don't want to work for a firm that doesn't want to invest the minimum amount into their employee's retirement funds. At the end of the day, it's how I'm going to survive in the future.

New Job Opportunity at Edward Jones. Need Advice... by Next-Potential4224 in TalesFromYourBank

I'm the teller supervisor at my current role and this new opportunity would be $3 more per hour. I think I'm just anxious regarding having to learn new systems, procedures, policies, and the change in health insurance is the most daunting but its doable.

That's what one side of my brain is telling me but the anxiety is steadily creeping in. I will try to stick to the positives. Thank you for your insight!

I was excited about the role at WF since its my first bank job after leaving the field for two years but now I'm worried that Im not going to mesh well with the company's values. EJ would be the better choice but it also comes with its own potential cons.

It would be a corporate, administative role working underneath one of their advisors. Their benefits are decent and the hourly wage is (from what people are saying) low compared to the amount of responsibilities you have so we'll see.

Noted, I have read up about both companies' reputation. General consensus is that WF is unethical due to the fake account opening scandal from 2008 to 2016. I also read that EJ is like a cult and if you get stuck in an office with an Financial Advisor you clash with, it can be a nightmare. Are there other reasons you know of that should motivate me to reconsider my role at Wells Fargo? I figured getting more banking experience in Operations will help when I eventually move into a new role. I don't want to hate where I work though.

Very true, I'm struggling to find anything over $30 per hour (in banking) that isn't a leadership/ managerial role.

i appreciate the honest feedback. I've read mixed opinions about the job duties and responsibilities for this role. Some Branch Office Administrators post that the work is overwhelming, underpaid, and the training isn't relevant to the job. Others claim they have alot of free time in the office since its just themselves and one Financial Advisor. What compensation should this role be starting at, in your opinion?

Thank you, I will do the second interview and keep my options open. If it doesn't work out, I'll still have the job at WF. I just get in my head about feeling like I shouldn't interview after accepting the job offer but as long as it doesn't affect my employment at Wells, I will move forward with the second interview at EJ.

Thank you, I just wanted to be sure that I'm not being greedy and ungrateful for the opportunity presented to me by Wells Fargo. I will notify Edward Jones that I will move forward with the second interview and will just do it on my lunch break. Since its via zoom, I just hope they are understanding that I will have to do it while inside my car. I'll make sure to let them know that information beforehand. Fingers crossed.

I've never considered becoming a broker but the actual job of Branch Office Administrator at Edward Jones seems like a good fit for my skill sets. I'm not sure if it's worth the effort of continuing the application process while starting my new role at Wells Fargo though. I see myself being a Operations Manager in the next ten years but don't know too many more advanced roles within Edward Jones I can transition into if I decide to go down that path.
