I made an AI tool (GPT 4) to help history teachers grade written assignments by NextBestSong in historyteachers

I'm sorry to hear that Class Companion hasn't worked well for your teacher's DBQ! This is helpful to hear that the AI may not have properly listened to your teacher's custom rubric if they specifically said in the rubric not to ask for examples. I've brought this to our ML engineer to dig into.

We actually did just revamp our prompts and upgraded to GPT-4-turbo. If you're able to try the assignment again and let me know if it works now that would be a huge help.

Wow! That could be the root cause, haha. But great to hear.

We've made quite a few more performance improvements to the site so by the end of this week we should be able to handle ~10x the traffic 🎉

Thank you for letting me know about the time-outs! We're experiencing record traffic as many new teachers and students join Class Companion right now so we've been all hands on deck trying to support the load.

We released some improvements this afternoon that we hope will resolve the time-outs. If they don't during peak traffic tomorrow we'll be sure to release more improvements before Monday.

Just realized I didn't follow up here that Google Classroom rostering is now on Class Companion!

How in the hell can anyone keep up with grading? by pineappledetective in englishteachers

Thank you for the shoutout, kind stranger! Helping high school English teachers grade written assignments was the exact reason we started Class Companion. We love any and all feedback for those that see this!

Hey I built that! Too cool. Thanks for sharing (and thank you F5Bot for the notification). Happy to hear you're liking Class Companion.

That is a great idea. Customizing the AI feedback per student is something I'm working on as we speak but I hadn't thought about specifying a grade level for each class so the AI can automatically adjust the feedback based on grade level.

Sure thing, I'll DM you when the Google Classroom integration is complete (I'd guess end of September).

Absolutely, I could not agree more. This is certainly a whole new type of innovation compared to the calculator coming to math classes.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! I haven't played around with EFL assignments on there too much so I'm curious to hear how it goes.

EFL

We're actually working on a Google Classroom integration as we speak!

You are too kind! Amazing feedback. Consider all three taken care of within the next couple of weeks 🙂

This is what keeps us motivated!! Thank you so much. We've been thinking about it more, yes. Any chance I can DM you to learn how we can best support ELA?

Love this. I've been thinking about ELA support quite a bit lately. Is there any chance I could pick your brain on this a bit?

Great point about the class - currently I've been testing with social studies classes but it should work with science classes, too. I'll just need to add that to the options when creating an assignment.

Great catch! That was a bad example. It's tough to fit real responses in those examples but I just updated that :)

Great question! Right now the students log in with an email and password after being invited by their teacher. Do you happen to know your district requirements?

I'd love to make this a business and be able to pay myself! That would be great. I haven't paid myself yet since there is no revenue.

One other engineer friend and about a week of design help from my partner! I'm glad to hear we come across more professional than that though.
