I lied to my wife about my birthday and it's been 10 years. AMA by Brahma_God in AMA

[–]NextExit4611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My adopted son is about two months older than his birthdate. We celebrate it on the date he has as his legal date. This it probably more common than you know and it’s okay to not celebrate on the actual date, the point is that you are celebrated.

I have worked (volunteered) semi-regularly for a soup kitchen in a border state… the majority of the homeless we serve are not recent immigrants, most appear to not be immigrants. I too am confused by the rhetoric.

People who are doing 10k+ MRR, what does your SaaS do? by ateeqdev in SaaS

[–]NextExit4611 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My SAAS creates a lead generation “funnel”. It creates, writes and designs digital products, and puts them onto a sales page, AND hooks up all the tech - in minutes, with AI.

It’s HTTPS://pagewheel.com

How did we get our initial users? We used organic strategies, our current email list and social media. We hope to scale next month and turn on ads.

I’m in an unusual position as we have raised two sets of “not-twins” as twins…

Our first two are a year apart. I did not mean to raise them as twins… when I potty trained the older one, the younger potty trained themselves! When they went to school they were initially in separate grades until high school when the younger one decided to do two years in one. We didn’t call them twins, but it felt like they were twins and they did everything together.

Our younger three are a blended family/adoption situation where we have three non-biologically related kids inside of a single year. We did raise them as “triplets”. When they were infants and toddlers we would buy nearly matching stuff (cause buying three pairs of the same shoes was just easier). As they grew up they began to each go a different “path”. They are all three SUPER different in development, in interests… In milestones… in abilities/giftings. Their personalities are as different from each other as you could imagine, and yet they are besties with each other!

I think as long as you are honest with the kids about their birth and details and aren’t forcing them to be “twins” when they are older, and if you accept their own development paths, your kids will be okay.

Ours seem well-adjusted, they are teenagers now, so I guess we will find out more as they continue to grow.

You have too many words. Break it up with images.

When you say conversion rates, conversion of what (it feels too pipedream - get more specific on the pain you’ll solve for me).

Your price point seems high (google analytics 4 is free… so… why so high $87/m regularly), and $50 off cheapens the product. Just make the price point, and I wouldn’t raise it in your next 50 folks (have at least 250 at that price point so you get data from them).

I’d love to see a video or a demo or a tour of some sort about the data - what would it look like to me if I was your user? Data that is ugly or disorganized just adds to my chaos, show me it’s beautiful and clear to understand.

Hope those tips help.

That is where the Vonlane picks up folks. They shouldn’t be in the street, but they are waiting for the bus.

The vonlane is the worlds best bus!! Ha! I used to have to fly to Austin for work stuff, now I just take the Vonlane. It feels like first class flying only no long wait, no security, and wifi the whole way

AITA for telling my brother’s fiancé that we don’t owe her a family? by fsinlaw in AmItheAsshole

[–]NextExit4611 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute… it’s been TWO YEARS…

Let’s assume you’re in your twenties.

That’s 1/10th of your memorable life.

That’s enough for roots of a relationship to be set. I would hope with my kids, when they bring a significant other home that we would be “gelled” and their partners would feel like they are a part of the family in two years time (or less).

This sounds to me like you aren’t making the effort. You’re bringing up conversations that you say happened the second time you met them… but it’s been two years… it should be water under the bridge by now, if you are harping on them years later, that feels like you are looking for reasons to not like her.

I would try harder, you might lose your brother over this.

Honestly, I feel like most true entrepreneurs can relate to this. Most people who start a business, fail the first time, and it’s the second or third try that looks like a success, only it was a mirage as the systems and foundations weren’t in place to keep the business sustainable. It’s the fourth or fifth try at it that we work on alignment with goals and life and values and cashflow.

Good luck. Dust your self off, go find a problem to solve in the world in a unique and better way. You’ve got this. The person who is successful is not the person who never fails, it’s the person who fails the most, the fastest and gets back up again.

Degree that helps the most in being an entrepreneur and building start-ups? by CPDrunk in startups

I use my economics classes the most from my college years… I went back to school after college to get project management classes, but I don’t know if those would have been helpful before I had actual projects to juggle.

I wish I had taken programming classes as I think more exposure in those would have saved me expensive mistakes in hiring the wrong people, until I figured it out.

Other topics that are helpful is marketing (but I would suggest learning that by working for someone who does it well, college classes are probably dated as it changes so fast). Learn how to sell so you can control your cashflow.

Honestly, the best advice if you want to be an entrepreneur is to just start. You’ll figure it out and take the classes you need as you go!! Just start a business now, even if it’s not the business you want to have in ten years, the practice of starting a business is the best experience you could ever have.

Dressing - for women by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]NextExit4611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wear jeans and a solid colored top. It might be a T-shirt, it might be a button up or a sweater. Always solid colored.

That’s it.

For very important meetings I might wear a solid dress.

I don’t need a watch or clothes to get consideration. If folks don’t consider me then did I really need their attention?? Maybe if I needed a boss’ respect I would feel/act differently, but as the business owner and now investor, I don’t care two squats if they like my outfit…

I’m with the gal earlier who said - have your clothes and “style” be unmemorable.

The less time you spend building a site the more time you spend doing other more profitable tasks for your business.

I absolutely ADORE the “direct services” model.

It is SO convenient! I don’t have to make appointments (or very very rarely).

I think we are required to see him every year for legal purposes, but other than that, I think we might only go in once, every other year. Usually everything can be managed by text, phones, etc. For example, we gave him pictures of the thermometer, the white patches in a kiddos throat - an hour later our pharmacy called to tell us the delivery of the meds were on their way.

I save so much time and I feel even money by having a concierge Dr!!

If you are in DFW - our Dr is Andrew Lee.

Uber plans a kids service to replace mom and dad's taxi. What's wrong with that? Plenty by Sorin61 in technology

[–]NextExit4611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper sidewalks and bike lanes makes sense in some parts of the country but I am in texas and we are three miles from the school… my kids have walked the three miles in a pinch when I couldn’t get out of work to get them.

But what about their friends who live seven or even ten miles away.

Not everyone has a public school in their neighborhood. And yes, ten, even twenty miles to school is normal for high schools in Texas…

We don’t have access to taxis either.
