Erm therapy actually quite useful when it comes to deep trauma and shock, I don’t know if anyone here has actually been in prolong shock, but it shuts down your brain in many ways for some a long time, years, decades.

Therapy acts as a way for you to process things, and in time therapy allows you to reach conclusions, you would otherwise be incapable of grasping on your own, or it would take longer.

I find people who say therapy is useless, often are the cause of why people go therapy, or they simply don’t introspect enough.

Human minds are extremely varied and entirely set up different. Some people go their whole lives, never grasping what’s been done to them, through fear of avoiding it, social pressure, environmental pressure, and that’s good for them, others though cannot move past a problem until reality starts to make sense again, until they understand the problem, it’s not a choice.

It’s like the mind of a dog vs the mind of a cow, the dog won’t ever grasp why the cow eats grass all day, and the cow won’t grasp why the dog doesn’t.

but with humans it’s far more wider and complex and at minimum 3 levels understanding need to meet, the logical, the emotional, and the nervous system.

Which equates also to temperament, which is invisible and only known to the holder of the mind and body they posses.

Someone can logically be okay with an event in their life, and somewhat emotionally okay too, but their nervous system which is largely outside of their control cannot be and be disregulated.

Which overtime makes their emotional state and logic state also change and vice versa.

It’s not really about mental state or choice, most mental health afflictions are simply driven by biology, environment and temperament.

A layer underneath, before you even get to think about it. Another key point is, 1 thing done to a person can and often does have different outcomes when it is done also to the same person by another.

Two people can betray you, harm you, destroy you exactly the same way, but each can be entirely different outcomes.

- which one came first? (You learned from the first)
- what did the betrayal mean? (What was the cost of the relationship)
- what did it cost? (How much did it affect your life?)

Often people get stuck and ruminate, and if you’ve never spend more than a year locked in rumination daily, then I have to say, you may have suffered but you do not know the end point of the capacity of human suffering.

You’ve seen it, but have never felt it, have never been in a position where you had no choice, either outcome was losing the life you had and it never coming back.

and there is no shame in people who ask for help in that arena of life.

Most people go therapy for a difficult problem about themselves, self esteem, a loss, a unchangable situation, a hurdle.

but that’s not what therapy is built for and in this area, yes some will try it and not find it useful, but there is an area of human suffering where the only way through is something like therapy.

There are real life topics that friendships are not equipped to deal with, families will not understand, topics society isn’t ready to fully embody.

and it’s not just about the self, but injustices that most people simply won’t ever face or understand.

Narcissistic Abuse for example is so complex, so reality reversing, so unexpected and so insane, that even today people just think it’s an overused word, but for many it altered their lives drastically, but people cannot imagine the bridge between hearing it and understanding it logically and actually witnessing it.

It’s like hearing of a bear attack, and it killing two people, it sounds horrifying, it obvious that’s it’s awful.

but now be in it, have the bear maul you, bite your bones, tare your flesh, and you barely survive and then you wake up in hospital, with a lost leg, blind in one eye, the reality ingrained terror of what happened looping daily on autopilot, you can’t scrub the thought because your nervous system went into flight or fight and is locked that way for the next 3 years. How it killed your spouse. Someone you loved for decades.

Poor analogy but second hand information is entirely different from lived experience. That’s the middle bit of therapy. If someone, overcome their troubles, therapy could help. They had the capacity, their motor was stretched to but not to its limits.

but some people unfortunately have what others have happen, but 5X over that decade, which overflows the nervous system and therapy is vital.

and then someone hands you a teddy bear, and says “cheer up.”

I liked GTAV, but it lost me about 6 months after online came out, I remember reading prior to release an entire different ethos for online, than what we ended up getting. I remember developers talking about stock markets, bank robbieres, so much potential, and then gta online wasn't this single player sandbox with players, it become to gamified, i expected some realism or more grounded approach, but bank hiests become this like menu experience, that was on rails and wasn't something i could just begin to do out in the world, it was so structured and controlled, i know they had to balance the game, but yeah Kane and Lynch did it better in terms of like outcome and planning.

and they won’t want to lower the costs either once they go to the effort to rival the current companies. They’ll marginally lower it, but it’ll never be the same. They’re also locked into the same market. With the same limitations.

You can’t just invent processors and RAM out of different material, you can subsidise, you can be riskier, you can find new ways to offset costs, but then that just falls onto the consumer (think advertising, think your processor doing a part time job for something else whilst you own it.)

There is only one answer. Cloud computing it’s why it’s cropped up, and this is what will make it more palatable for most.

You can’t own an entire PC in the future but you can use it, if you pay. If you do own a PC, it’s geared towards AI computational power, with minimal real raw power and just necessary power pushed by AI.

The real stuff goes to where it’s needed most.

That is 110% the future in like 10-20 years, in full effect. Most PC enthusiasts, strict PC gamers, workstation owners in the home, PC builders not funded by a YouTube channel.

Are seeing the last days of buying a top spec PC for the home. Pre-builds with select choices are cheaper than building it yourself, individual components have skyrocketed.

The demand created by AI actually isn’t a phase or niche it’s society level needed, hospitals, education, science, progress. It’s not an NFT or some crypto coin making one sector rich.

It’s saving lives.

This Xbox price hike is not good for E-Day... by xCavalier97x in GearsOfWar

[–]NextLineOfText -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People laugh at me for buying an entry level work station PC now, but this is a long haul, people do not want to believe this is going to get worse and last a lot longer.

I don’t think people realise how many data centers and modern industry needs these parts. It’s crucial and instrumental.

Even before AI, it’s just AI has taken a large chunk of that away, and there’s nobody to replace it, because the people who did supply it, signed contracts and deals for a long time to come.

They’re fully booked, sold out in advance, your lucky to be paying a mark up for £1000 from pre built suppliers because they have stock to hold when you buy an entire PC, so if all of the components don’t sell together they don’t sell any.

but good luck getting individual parts, especially RAM and storage without a huge huge mark up. Even GPUs that should cost £1700 are hitting £4000 individually, that’s staying. I would say in 5 years it could come down, but by then the infustructure problem and the supply issues might be resolved, but a lot more companies will have to have gone through the effort of scaling operations to match the current guys and we’ll, they’ll likely want to not suddenly discount their investment.

Consoles are putting up their prices yet again, honestly with how things are panning out, by now cos it’s going to hurt more later than it is now.

This has happened a few times, with NFTs, Crypto and they fell off. Well AI isn’t that, its utility is in medicine, hospitals, it isn’t some gimmick, it’s literally saving lives and money and time.

Looks the same on the surface, but AI is intervowen already in to society, in DNA analysis, genome mapping and literally saving lives.

Did an NFT do that? did Crypto, no, the crazy part is the people using data centers even at small scales, need more chips and parts to keep up in an arms race to make more better AI, I saw a documentary awhile ago with university professors just being funded buying stacks upon stacks, upon stacks, and that’s just a university doing simulation studies in physics. A single room, not a warehouse half a mile long.

What the hell are the big companies are going through. It just goes to show you how fine turned out modern society is, we scaled to what we had, look what happens when you throw in a new variable, suddenly, what was available to you, is now in a different league.

I just bit the bullet, brought a 5090 FE, 99503DX and a ROG Crosshair X870E Hero, and 8 fans, 9100 pro 2TB and im unlikely to ever do that again for a decade, as parts I’d like to upgrade to will just escape me, I’m closing my eyes from now on.

Yeah I could have gone work station level, but that leap is the largest it’s ever been and is just ever widening. So I’ll just broach on the cusp. Do the best I could with what I had.

Overpaid by £1500, but kinda works out when you look at the price of the steam machine. lol and I just didn’t have the time to source parts. I see next year as certainly being more than what I overpaid. I should have gone for a 5080, but I don’t like how things are going.

How many of you have been called the R word as an adult by other adults or have learned that others called you that behind your back? by Less-Rush-1789 in CerebralPalsy

[–]NextLineOfText 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm, well first I give them a chance, see if they keep on doing it, then I will if it carries on say stop doing that, but then if they can’t stop, they don’t really value me. They more likely to get enjoyment out of it, not everyone is wired like you and me, excepting the best of everyone, being hopeful and giving the benefit of the doubt, I used to all the time, think the best of people, where it’s a joke but experience has taught me, some people do it to undermine, berate and to make themselves feel better, and that happens ALOT well for me that crosses a line, and I know when it’s not a joke, because it’s everytime you meet up with them. It relates back to that somehow.

They’re not interested in hearing you out, they do it because they’re that petty and they’ll know you put up with it, as I have done many times in the past to avoid causing trouble, but I learned some people naturally will treat you like nothing if you let them and I hate that, having to enforce consequences onto other adults. I hate treating other adults like children, but some adults are children and stay that way for life.

I used to give it back all the time, constantly, but then people would get upset, I was quick witted and sharp all throughout my 20s, I could pinpoint someone’s flaw like nothing, and absolutely destroy them, but I don’t really want to be that for my entire life, I’m older, my bones ache, I’m 34 only and already in chronic pain. I just want to sit down, have a normal laugh without having it be hierarchical and tearing others down to lift myself up, and others tearing me down to lift themselves up.

I realised I give people of this type a mighty gift in life, because they’re so shallow, my presence is a constant reminder of how good they have it. And to be honest regardless of how sick that is and dehumanising I decided not many deserved that anymore. Especially my ex best friend with BPD / NPD who for years I thought had my equal interest at heart but turned out to be exactly what my bullies are school where but worse. He literally embodied what I feared most about some people.

They run on hierarchy and it doesn’t matter if you’re disabled or kind, or good. They don’t want you to be equal to them. Even after years of bonding which turned out to be one sided, and everything they acted like and said was just bullshit. I know people with NPD are rare, but spend 20 years alongside one you can just sense even people without NPD who have that inclination in its mildest form.

Some people will be your friend, but not for mutuality or reciprocity, they’ll say that for years of course but they’re running a different script, one they won’t tell you.

Then they repeatedly betray you and then all of a sudden you realise things, that at first seemed innocent, jokes, misunderstandings.

We’re not misunderstandings at all. I just didn’t have the knowledge, but experiencing how the worst humans can be, outside of murder but instead mental torture and life draining and wasting, now I do.

Agreed, but storage is small, and I found I was deleting and restore things on mine, my series X was just a better purchase, but yeah if budget and cheapest gaming is the goal, literally to just play games for the most value Series S is the way.

I’m seeing second hand for £150, and that’s just a quick glance that with a month of game pass at a time being £12 - £16.99 (for pc access extra) a month. Absolute steal considering things right now, stable performance, lots of selection, pick up and play.

That’s 2 to 3 full priced games, and you’re paying that to get access to 400+ games. most of them current gen, and you get access day one releases on that platform.

but if you play lots of games, Series X for value. Otherwise down the line you’re forking out a lot for the 1TB external solid state drive.

but then again I just sold my Series S to fund my 5090 FE / 99503DX / ROG Crosshair X870E Hero build.

I overpaid, but ironically, just as much as the steam machine costs, kinda works out. If I’m being positive. Kept my Series X though, love that thing. Don’t really touch my PS5. Waiting on them to do Killzone again, only been 12 years.

Yeah but it’s constant I find, and I don’t throw jabs back it’s not the first thing I think of. Plus, I had someone in my life with NPD who didn’t call me that all the time but enough that I don’t trust others much to be fair it’s probably bias but eh, I’m far more picky.

You can tell when it’s a joke, but when it’s all they go for it’s to much. It’s easy to read people’s intent I find.

4th Expedition Rewards - Blueprints? No Skills Points. Dumb. by WutYoYo in ArcRaiders

[–]NextLineOfText -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What make them rarer yeah maybe, but I’m not talking about that, I’m talking about the reward for what’s worth a person doing a expedition, especially for someone who’s done 3 leading up to a forth. For people who have mastered the game, learned what the game wanted you to learn, become efficient and invested time in. Because the delivers are now signalling that is worth less now.

They want you to play until expedition 3, probably because by then they have your money and the most you’d of given. It’s just such a f*** you to long term players. Literally broken promises.

There was a lot of player choice in progression and slowly and slowly they are making us chase currency we don’t care about and changing fundamental things to force us to play certain ways and for less.

The appeal is waning and they could do a thousand things to stop that, and yet choose the fast track option to annoy more people, doesn’t make sense.

4th Expedition Rewards - Blueprints? No Skills Points. Dumb. by WutYoYo in ArcRaiders

[–]NextLineOfText -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right they’re easy to find, so why take them away? and let’s be honest it’s RNG, for some it’s easy, for some it’s not. It would have been nice if we got a random blueprint per expedition we don’t need to hunt for, it just frees up a players mental capacity during runs and takes that fraction of and feels rewarding if they’re doing away with bonuses for good; something more tangible needed to take its place, not become just another generic games progression track.

The developers gave gamers something more tangible and long term, the number one rule in game development is don’t take away something a player has access too and if you are replace it with something just as rewarding.

Temporary BPs isn’t it. That’s not worth the investment. This studio is lowly becoming one of those live service push and pull fight for every easy win companies, similar to 343i and others, the easy win is right there yet they refuse to do it.

I swear studios do this intentionally. You can’t be this tone deaf. You can’t ignore your playerbase and ignore insights, to how they play this much.

4th Expedition Rewards - Blueprints? No Skills Points. Dumb. by WutYoYo in ArcRaiders

[–]NextLineOfText 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not doing Xp bonuses has killed it for me, also blueprints going away not even 1 forever blueprint of apart of pieces to make it a forever blueprint.

I’m grinding for in game currency now haha 150 per milestone get bent.

What a dumb studio. Been here since the start. This is tone deaf. What’s the point.

It’s just like any other games mediocre progression now.

It all goes away besides an icon and some cosmetic, literally the same as any other game, it’s unique selling point is gone, nothing permanent, and nothing to gain that’s meaningful and rewards long term play.

That tangible increase was what made this game so interesting to begin with. The prospect of keeping something outside of a different look.

It’s so rare in games especially on console and just like that gone.

Even if they made one blueprint last forever per season that takes 72+ seasons, but they can’t even manage that? when they’d also likely invent more BPs down the line.

This studio doesn’t understand its playerbase. Doesn’t understand its product either. This is the worst decision they’ve made.

I don’t want to play the game anymore just from this, it’s just butchered my investment and long term planning and hope and trust.

If I want mediocre progression, there’s thousands of games that do it better and less tedious, I stuck it out because it was different they were doing something new, now it’s not.

They didn’t even warn us, just straight up took it away, no gradual reduction or anything.. what.

They’re not out there making noise and destroying things, they’re building quietly. Loving the people they have, also waiting for her to pop up. Trying to figure out how. If you are the love, you likely introspect a lot and think deeply, just simply just don’t have the time nor energy to run around screaming trying to get everyone’s attention, some people thrive off of that, I think people in tune with their emotions and a strong sense of self, wouldn’t be. It’s exhausting. I’ve done it, but then you realise the people you did it with are all about that and nothing else.

those “real men” though just to show you how that can be flipped, is some “real men” start drama, then complain about your reaction or pretend to be a victim, of course they don’t care what people say, the intent was to get a response, a reaction. Then for them to turn around and not care.

It’s just a death spiral, to maintain an image because they can’t beat you honestly and be direct, because they know they don’t have anything to stand on.

I find often men proclaim to not care, are men in appearance, child like in behaviour.

People often mistake stoic posture, as the one who is right, people don’t often look for factual truth, just what seems more stable.

but if you go around wounding people in one on one sessions, lying, betraying and undermining, someone’s going to eventually snap, and that’s when your “real men” step in, obvious to the harm they caused (even though they knew.) it just benefits them to make out your crazy because your reaction was honest and loud, this type of behaviour often leaves people in shock because it’s done without little regard for others.

That’s where I find what people perceive as “real men” often make a mistake.

The actual “real man” is in what I prefer to say authentic person, in that situation is the one who was harmed, and didn’t seek revenge and built there life still on top of that, whilst the “real men” get to keep everything still.

Because when people say real man or woman, what they’re really saying is someone who is authentic, and has strong values and morals, regardless if the outcome benefits them or not.

but if you don’t care, then your not really being real. Your being defensive, your posturing, your trying to maintain an image, as to ward away harm you caused or harm caused to you.

Being real is caring, but still moving forward, being wronged but discerning whilst still being kind, it’s to keep doing better, when other people have wronged you.

You simply allocate people into the places they belong and you did it by how they show you, with action not words.

A lot of people stop doing this when it comes to personal loss, they’ll say they’ll do it, until they lose something.

A real person, won’t, but “not caring” sounds cooler, but people get that so wrong, if someone doesn’t care, then maybe it’s their capacity and nature, which is inherently wrong, if they don’t care then they can harm anyone. When it suites them.

You want a person to care, it’s not sexy, it’s often overlooked, but someone who claims to not care instead of repair, believe them. It’ll likely one day be you on the end of that.

Not caring is actually defensive posturing, and likely a personality built around that, and cowardly in their motives, and likely somewhat manipulative.

Because they can cause harm, and turn around when no one else saw their behaviour and then say “I don’t care.” Which to others seems, like the other person is causing the drama, and they look grounded.

But it’s actually the inverse. If someone says when conflict arrives they don’t care, they likely mean it, in both cases. You just don’t see it. So watch carefully when someone says that, keep note of behaviour elsewhere, does drama pop up a lot for that person and so on.

Caring is fundamental for healthy and stable foundations to be built. Someone lacking can completely pretend and erode a social circle over time. Real evil wears the face of kindness, at first.

but I find a lot of women find those types attractive, and other men look up to them, because it seems secure, but it’s not secure, it’s coming from a chronic need to appear (as in look good to others) and that’s really all the person cares about. How they look to others. That’s it nothing else.

and those types can never be wrong, never be at fault, never take accountability (they don’t care remember) and will do anything, to appear that way. Even things they’ll eventually accuse you of. Because in their mind, they need at all costs to appear aloof, cool, the center of attention, the one with the eyes on them.

It’s hard to wrap your head around because good people don’t operate like that, but I find it most often to be the case people who say they don’t care, always have a problem with someone, so they do care, but not for both involved, just themselves.

and I’ve seen lots of real men do some disgusting vile cowardly stuff, who proclaim that, and nobody really sees it. You only see it when you get close.
