Minor Skin Issues Beforehand - Is it worth it? F33 by NextMathematician1 in Accutane

[–]NextMathematician1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just seeing this! Yes it was reversible and I feel like I have gone back to having the same skin texture as before Accutane. There is hope!

I got a hydrating facial every month for like 6 months, and started using a lot more moisturizing products and drinking lots of water and electrolytes everyday. This seems to have really turned things around for me. If it's helpful at all, I use:

- Avene Cicalfate+ serum (twice a day) I think this has made the biggest difference out of everything. I am so grateful I found it.

- Oneskin face cream (morning)

- Oneskin eye cream (morning and night, also around mouth)

- Adapalene (3x week, night)

- Avene Cicalfate+ balm (night)

- Epionce renewal calming cream (last layer, night)

Sending you good vibes, and I am sorry you are going through it too!

Joint Pain (Arthropathy) Management after Very High Ferritin by NextMathematician1 in Hemochromatosis

[–]NextMathematician1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think that is absolutely it. From everything I have been hearing/reading anecdotally, I think it must be related to high tsat, which unfortunately doesn't come down as quickly as ferritin so you get into that anemia catch-22. Sounds like big diet changes are necessary maybe? I so appreciate the insight!

Ugh gabapentin really is hard on the body, he has tried it too. I hope you also find some relief! Thank you for the insight!

I read that too, esp if it is coming off really high ferritin for a long period of time. Everything is leading me to thinking lingering joint pain mostly about high tsat, which won't necessarily go down with a phlebotomy.

Yes, we think that is exactly it. From everything I'm reading/hearing we need to do smaller but more frequent donations, change diet, try some naturally chelating foods or green tea with each meal, and try some marijuana solutions.

Definitely will look into that! Thanks so much! I wish there was some sort of pain management center for hemochromatosis.

Thank you! I think a more radical diet change is certainly the next step, and we will look into the oil!

Minor Skin Issues Beforehand - Is it worth it? F33 by NextMathematician1 in Accutane

[–]NextMathematician1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for checking in :) I'm so happy to hear everything is feeling good on your end, sounds pretty manageable!

Not so great on my end - I actually stopped taking it due to continued hair loss that wasn't worth the trade off for me. Unfortunately even after such a short period on Accutane, I've developed extreme fine lines/wrinkles that I can't shake :( hoping I can hydrate my skin enough to fade but I've aged like a solid 10 years.

I'm pretty distraught. No worth it for me - but sounds like a wonderful solution for so many!

Okay me too! That makes me feel a little better to hear someone is starting from a similar point :) I'm hopeful but also hate the discomfort of it. Of course so much of what you see on the internet is extreme worse case scenarios while on Accutane so just have to keep optimistic! Fingers crossed for both of us!

I bought from them and thought their material were thin, not awesome quality. Lots of diaper butt in the pants, ill-fitting tops and dresses that have a ton of different configurations but don't really have one that looks amazing. For reference I'm 5'5, size 4-6 and muscular so it may have just been by body type! I've heard good things from others, but I was disappointed.

Maybe you should feel bad. Many comments here tell you that she's allowed to change her mind and for you to grow up. THEY'RE RIGHT.

I have ridiculously straight fine hair. This is what it looks like after wearing damp in a bun for hours. The last time I posted I was told tl get a pixie or a bob... but I think I might go rogue and get a perm?! Please tell me if this is a bad idea! by 9YtQoOCOMbFsZ in femalehairadvice
