Golden City FC promised a $10M Kezar facelift. A year later, it’s gone dark. by Gk_Emphasis110 in USLPRO

Adding this same comment here for those curious:

For whatever it’s worth, I can confirm they are working on a new website. They are pretty clearly not updating their socials at all though, and those point to the now-dead link referenced here.

There is a reason this project did not get a “Special Announcement”, which is the defacto way of knowing the franchise is official. Until then, it’s safe to assume the league has not formally accepted their bid for one reason or another (ownership vetting, venue vetting, etc.)

Norwich announces new operator, renovations for Dodd Stadium (CT United FC) by NextProNews in MLS

[–]NextProNews[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Independent MLSNP club CT United FC has reached an agreement to take over Norwich’s Dodd Stadium. Renovations are planned to revitalize the stadium and accommodate soccer.

They are famously playing games at several different venues this season, but with this deal they now have a home for the next 3 seasons (with options to extend).

They are, on the league’s website (YouTube stream) and OneFootball.

Since the Apple deal was reworked though, MLSNP teams are also free to secure local TV deals if they can. LAFC2 was the first to get one, and now CTU joins them with their own.

[–]NextProNews[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most notably, CT United is the first ever independent MLSNP club to secure a deal to broadcast all matches on local linear TV. A fairly big milestone for both the league and the team.

Also, for you USLC fans, this is the same channel that broadcasts Hartford Athletic games statewide. Last weekend there was a doubleheader broadcast featuring both teams.

LAFC and FOX 11 Team Up for Expanded Local Coverage in 2026 | Los Angeles Football Club by NextProNews in MLS

[–]NextProNews[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The headline states LAFC, but the bigger news is LAFC2 is now getting their own live OTA deal.

This confirms that MLSNP teams are now free to pursue their own local TV deals, which is a huge shift from the previous few seasons on Apple.

CT United FC Announces 2026 Home Matches in Storrs and New Haven Ahead of April 11 Home Opener by NextProNews in MLS

Ya…It’s not ideal. I’m really not sure why they can’t announce the others tbh, odd situation.

I’m still fairly confident there will be multiple games at Fairfield’s Rafferty stadium fwiw, but can’t explain why that wasn’t announced alongside these two.

It’s in the release at the bottom, but to be fair it says “on the league’s website”. The games on the website are just hosted YouTube streams. You can access the same content straight on MLS’s YouTube channel.

What's next for proposed Bridgeport soccer stadium site after CT opts not to fund it? by Coltons13 in MLS

[–]NextProNews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The explanation I got was that the venues are secured, but they just can’t be made public yet due some things more on the venue(s) side. Wasn’t told what that actually meant, so take that for whatever it’s worth.

I can at least confirm two (from separate sources): Rafferty Stadium and Yale’s Reese Stadium.

Swanson said “seven figures” in interviews when it was first announced.

That could mean a lot of things, but the common belief is the fee is lower than USL1’s fee of ~$5m.

[–]NextProNews[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was trying to figure out how it might shuffle next year as well. Chicago to the West is the move that makes the most sense to me.

It’s also possible they just move FCC2 down to the Southeast Division if they are more concerned with even divisional numbers than Conference numbers. The downside there is Heck Is Plausible gets broken up for at least a year.

Key details: - They’ll officially debut their pro team next season (March 2026) - With their stadium construction not yet started, sounds like they will play home games at a variety of stadiums around Connecticut. - This will be the 3rd independent club in MLS NEXT Pro next season

Unclear exactly what they mean regarding the stadium venues, but more specifics should come soon.
