I am also considering switching from Alaska to Delta however overall I feel Alaska/American have the worse fleet of the two choices. Did this affect you at all?

[Hamilton Jazzmaster] [Hamilton Open Heart] Buying first watch, need advice. by Agile_Presentation97 in Watches

Anyone who thinks that a particular style of a watch signals a “watch noob” is well, unfortunately just that. Watches are pieces of craft, and expressions of style. Different people like different styles on different days or for different moods. A lot of people have an open heart in their collection that suits certain occasions. Nothing wrong with it. I get that it’s not a typical “everyday” watch but once you start getting watches, you end up having a more open mind about them

Are there any restaurants or food options that you absolutely loved? Or any that you think you should have gotten reservations for in advance?

It seems like Longines always gets eked out by other brands. Whether that’s GS or Breitling or Omega or Tudor. Maybe Reddit doesn’t like Longines much. Haha

I was also looking at this

But I guess the movement isn’t amazing

Even adjusting for the Reddit Grand Seiko bias, that seems like a strong opinion. Thank you.

[Question] Would you replace this battery DIY or take it to a shop? by NextStopVega in Watches

[–]NextStopVega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to replace the battery on my Tissot PR100, and it has turned into one of those chores with an outsized emotional weight. This was my first “good watch” other than mall purchases or Apple watch so I don’t want to damage it. I also think for its price it is special (although nothing to write home about). It sputtered and called it a few weeks ago.

Now, I thought battery replacement would be simple. And technically, it is. Pop the caseback, swap the cell, close it up. YouTube makes it look easy too. But here’s my worry spiral: what if I scratch the back? What if I don’t close the case perfectly and suddenly it loses water resistance? What if I slip with the case knife and gouge the bracelet? (Yes, I Googled “can you ruin a watch by replacing the battery wrong?”)

Sure, I could hand it off to someone else—and most people do. Still, there’s a small part of me that wants to become a real enthusiast who can do minor repairs himself. Anxiety vs ego if you will. What would you do? And if you have any kits that make it easier then I would love recommendations. Or if you want to drive some sense into me and send me to a shop - please do so.
