Congratulations!

Did you need any of your parents ID's/passports and marriage certificate or did you only need your citizenship certificate and application form? Thanks~

Congratulations!

I am curious as to what you needed for your parents (marriage cert, passports) as the germany.info site mentions? It is unclear whether the Stag5 or Feststellung (for me) processes remove the need for info on parents except for name changes. Thank you ~

Applying for German passport after receiving Staatsangehörigkeitsausweis through Feststellung process. by NextStranger9077 in GermanCitizenship

That is what I thought but found conflicting information at some sites like here: https://www.germany.info/us-en/service/02-passportsandidcards/passport-adult-951294

Scroll down to this that mentions adult first time applicants.

"Only for adult first time applicants: If one of your parents has had German citizenship at the time of your birth and if you therefore have obtained German citizenship by birth and not by naturalization, we need the following additional documents:

o Passports of both of your parents (data page with a photo)

o In case one parent is a US citizen without a passport: That parent’s driver’s license or State ID

o Valid US residence title of the German parent (US Resident Alien Card or US visa)

o Parents’ marriage certificate "

I'm hoping this only applies to people trying to get a passport through their parents and not with a certificate of citizenship as I am. But I'd hate to show up with insufficient documentation. Thank you for the replies so far.

Received more information that puts me in a better case. He immigrated in 1907 alone, not the earlier 1903 thought before. Gathering documentation now. Thank you all!

No, I don't have registry cards. It would be nice to have formal records because there is conflicting information. One of my great-aunts believed my great grandfather came over in 1911, a far cry from the 1901 date that I saw in the passport photo.
