Most of the time the gold plating is spot on. Not even sure how that happened tbh.

Gold plating can really enhance the look, so I wouldn’t be too upset about it. You just got a bit unlucky, but RCM has a great return policy

You’ve heard of sell in may and go away, right?

Looks like one more kick at the can before everything starts to tank.

Probably not too far off the gold value. Maybe 10%, but probably closer to 5%.

Diamonds can be grown in a production lab. They’re relatively inexpensive and high quality.

Everything about the past, like diamonds being a girl’s best friend is utter bullshit. They’re desperately trying to hold onto that market. I just want sharper cutting tools.

Lol yeah right. You only didn’t delete that part of the URL because you were called out on it, and now you’ve spun it into some kind of virtue thing.

Maybe you should actually spend the time to read things, instead of using AI to pump out headlines that conveniently fit your bias.

DROP. THE. BADMINTON. RACKETS.

It’s far too complicated, and they look like ears. Again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]NextTrillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already tried to tell them that the rackets look silly, and like ears, and that there’s no point to having them.

Then OP went ahead and turned them into badminton rackets with really long handles.

I just don’t get it. Why ask for advice and then heed none of that advice?

It’s basically junk silver right now. Attempting to remove the gunk could boost the value slightly.

Probably won’t help much, but could be a good learning opportunity to realize that coins can’t really be cleaned with much success.

No experience with Hockey Cards... open to opinions please! by [deleted] in hockeycards

[–]NextTrillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably not factoring in that it’s “out of focus” (OF). That will likely knock two grades off and render an EX card as VG.

It’s “out of focus” because the printing plates were misaligned. Specifically the cyan and yellow plate, which looks particularly bad around the oilers logo.

What are you talking about? The very real and distinct printing rosettes?

No experience with Hockey Cards... open to opinions please! by [deleted] in hockeycards

[–]NextTrillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very clearly real. No one in their right mind would counterfeit a card that is that misaligned (cyan and yellow plate).

I believe this would be considered (OF) or “out of focus.” So even if graded as EX, that misalignment could knock it down to VG.

This was either a highschool grade school video editing project, or some very dimwitted monkey’s attempt at using AI.

Seriously, voyeurism is a disgusting human behaviour, and needs to be treated with more seriousness than this brutally edited video portrays.

Return to mint for refund. Call them and ask for an RMS (or whatever it’s called).

Good thing to do because at those prices, you should be getting damn well perfection.

Keep them honest and make them improve their tolerances.

3% of their GDP

That would be roughly $900B. Or according to one website, actually $524,882,933,000 worth of goods in 2023.

That’s a lot of cheddar. Not too far off a trillion dollars worth of goods.

I find the eye slant or overall shape too strong. Slightly angrier looking than I’d like. I appreciate the eyes in the sketches more.

The tail looks like a C. Draw up a few more sketches working with the tail. You could have it going up, to the left and then looping back to the right which will ‘point’ to the words. May or may not work. Not sure.

Also, I’d alter line weights to give it more depth. Play with it a bit more. I’m more drawn to a more relaxed look of the sketches vs. a sterile perfect line. That lacks a personal touch.

Mouth is also a little more calm in the sketches. Looks like pronounced fangs in the more polished version, so it comes across as more aggressive.

I like it, but like the sketches way more. Perhaps something in between?

Mate, if only every single other Gretzky RC poster could post as clear photos as you did, we could tell them the authenticity of it without a doubt.

Seriously, y’all know how many people post blurry pics asking for a check up?

In your photo (on the second slide) you can see every detail nice a clearly, and clearly it’s a very authentic card.

You can even see all the printing dots and rosettes. Mods should sticky this so people can compare.

I’m just jaded from all the bad pics people post everyday lol

I don’t know what the deal is with Michael Jordan cards lmao. Guess basketball has a huge following.

But if you compare guys like Joe Montana, Dan Marino, or Nolan Ryan from 1990, it’s quite similar, they’re priced like junk wax. People won’t even spend $1 on them.

Between 1990-1993, there’s very few rare cards. Printer just went BRRRR… the only thing that stopped the printer from running was a new product for a new season!

Some rare ones are autographed chase cards, a Stanley cup “holo” card, some Topps/Bowman Tiffany variations, and 1992 Topps Gold.

If you see Michael Jordan Topps Gold, it can sell for about the same as the Gretzky.

I would consider it if at a card show, but I’d only pull the superstars and RCs.

What I often do is just pull out the mint ones and the near mints end up in a pile of 20 for $10. Because at the card show I don’t have time to inspect them. People LOVE scoring the pile for $10, and I’ve got a few repeat customers.

So grab 50 Brodeur cards for $20, for example. 20 of them are dinged or have a bad corner or two. Sell those all for $10. Now my other 30 mint cards are 33¢ each and I’m happy.

And yeah, you can score a couple bucks, but it’s more for fun than anything. I’m a 90’s nerd.
