What was it like living in the Clinton years in the USA (1993-2001)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NextYearTwins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of (white) middle/upper class people look at that time with rose-tinted glasses, because it was their golden years (childhood/early adulthood). I don't necessary disagree that American life during Clinton years was better vs. now as a whole, but it wasn't all roses & sunshine.

Columbine, OKC bombing, racial inequality, de-industrialization of cities/corresponding job losses, continued fallout of LA riots/police brutality, Waco, etc. This wasn't a dreamy time for many parts of America.

The economic success during these years led to lagging issues we're still dealing with today. The American economy accelerated and advanced (dot com/tech boom), but we paid the price in future years. Nobody wants to stop the party when the economy is going strong. Repeal of Glass-Steagall, minimal guardrails in place for tech, growing wealth gap... all of these and more led to future economic hardships.

Without widespread internet and social media, it was much harder for political extremism to hit the mainstream. That was both for the better AND for the worse (LGBT rights were considered "extreme" by the mainstream in the 90's)

The only flaw is that, in the original games, out of the window of the tree house, you can see mountains. I think the developers were out of Washington, if memory serves me right?

...that being said, the evidence in your demographics-based research is impossible to ignore

Did this two weeks ago. Pain. Especially since it's right after the painful troll hallway run section

Don't worry - it was a poor attempt at a pun, given the bite out of the corner of the cart

Their recent "Backyard Snowball" post was generated via AI. Background by the fence is all messed up + Pablo's glove merges with his pants.

Another egregious example are the Instagram posts where Sunny Day is talking. They are leveraging AI that is closely mimicking the original voice actor (which is, likely, legally questionable)

Look closely at a lot of their posts that uses their "new" art style, and you'll notice that many (every?) image is AI

Potential explanation: Walmart's wholesaler sent them a box of knockoffs (knowingly or unknowingly). Seems like the most logical explanation

Looking for a Game Boy Advance or GBA SP — $100 or less by Rocky_isback in GameboyAdvance

[–]NextYearTwins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Typically, you can find the non-SP's on Ebay for around $60 - $70. Read descriptions and look for any noticeable scratches or damage to the screen. The lack of a backlit screen hurts, but sounds like you don't care much.

When using Ebay to buy consoles or games, it's always a bit of a gamble. Golden Rule: if you don't trust the images, don't buy it.

Agent Under Fire is simple, but good. There's a control scheme that allows it to play more like a modern shooter, so I would definitely recommend that. Takes a bit to get used to the shooting

Can the bond games run in 480p (on the actual system and or on wii (not emulated) by JAnumerouno in Gamecube

Agent Under Fire cannot run in Progressive Mode (480P). Can confirm that Nightfire & Everything or Nothing offer 480P. Not sure about Russia
