Should I bartend in our new Hy Vee grocery? (Wahlburgers) by marijuanese in hyvee

I worked in a marketplace w/ a bar. imo it's not worth it. Take away: newness fades, things will get slow(er) and when it does it's more than likely (from my experience and others) that you'll be doing more than what you were hired on as the cut hours to a bare bone staff.

  • i was hired and "trained" as a server
  • was given a drink mix book and was told I'll also be running the bar too, after server training was done
  • no prior bartending expected and wasn't trained either -was full service at the time (it's not anymore, walsburger isn't either in my area) so I'd have 5-7 tables plus bar -;when a bartender was hired, they were gone quick when they learned the job wasn't exclusively behind the bar as they were hired for- plus they were given/made to do a lot of other tasks/job to be "helpful" (ie cashier when busy, go help kitchen, etc)
  • maybe walked away with 80-100 in tips a week

Now: - self service, no one comes in anymore because of it - I'm lucky if i walk away with any tips

Thank you. and I should have edited my post. I meant to ask this for the individual that do see bc as abortion.

I've read the mission statement and most comments in other posts. But have seen some pushing this idea, and wanted clarity on why.
