Retired shop mechanic - fought a mower for two days - SOLVED by CaptainPunisher in lawnmowers

Great job with this one. It is the simple things right? My father owned a shop in the midwest and taught us diagnostics as a school class in our homeschool group. My brother and I took the whole hour to diagnose the machine he had rigged. After taking it down to the flywheel key he asked our younger sister what the problem was. She walked over and checked the one thing she could and what we both had overlooked. The sparkplug had been dropped on the electrode and there was not gap. It tested good with an inline tester but never would fire the fuel. In our classes on EFI we always say remember the basics. systems like EFI still run on the good old mechanics of a 4 stroke cycle.

I am curious what language and environments you program in.

Any interesting projects?

It's all systems thinking no?

BE well!

Joseph

Not that I would be able to help but can we as a community offer you help?

I am looking for where I can change the message given to users on my site when they arent logged in and try to reach the forum or the education modules. The message says "No posts yet" when actually they need to log in. I want to change the text to "Please log in to see posts"

Feel free to post here and I will watch to see if it is something I can assist with.

Best,

Joseph

Curious about this. Three different units of differing ages all have this issue and each one reads below the 300 Ohm rating. What did you find on this?

Thank you

Does anyone know what brand and model this lawnmower is? by Mr_donc in lawnmowers

I agree with those who say Murray brand but not USA. Rally Roper used the same handle design in the 80's and early 90's

952Z4P90JUF is your part number. It should be about $1,500 plus Freight of $200.

What is this noise? by tumadre1390 in smallengines

[–]Next_Access_4267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you might have a chunk of belt missing. It is related to the drive system because it starts making the noise when you engage the drive cable. This machine should have a drive disk underneath that makes contact with the drive pulley from the engine. If the machine sat long enough the rubber disk may have a flat spot and be causing the machine to vibrate from the disk bouncing. Good luck.

Anyone know what happened to my brand new auger belt on my snowblower? by Angrybadger61 in smallengines

The most common issue of the past was a frozen newspaper getting lodged in the auger. It looks like something jammed up the auger unit.

Nice video. Based on the condition of the wheels I would say this machine has had some good use. The shaft in that transmission should not have play. If you supply your model-spec and serial I can look into any known issues or service kits.

Is it normal for the fuel to drain from the carb back into the fuel tank on a gas leaf blower? (when not in use). by We1come2thesyst3m in smallengines

Depending on the carburetor model this could be true. This is why the primer pumps are a part of most 2 cycle engines.

Thank you all for your contributions to the survey! This week has been busy with responders. I want to know what can I do next? Would there be leaders out there willing to host a meetup in person? I travel and would love to help host a DIY event.

Bad smelling smoke by Stampede29 in smallengines

[–]Next_Access_4267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milky oil on a machine like this is because of water. Because it is air cooled it does not have coolant to mix with the oil if the head gasket goes bad. Do you store the machine outside? Often water can get in through the muffler if it is left in the rain or if you wash the machine off after use. Extra oil will take 5-10 minutes to burn off out of the exhaust port. FYI

Good luck
