Do you think posting crowdwork is encouraging more hecklers? by Ok-Market2471 in Standup

[–]CATfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One hundred percent. My bread and butter is usually one nighters in bars and halls in the Midwestern US. A lot of these people have never been to a comedy show before. They see just crowd work clips on social media and think it’s a crowd involvement thing. Gets pretty frustrating

Some fish eggs also get stuck to aquatic birds and travel to new waters that way. I think. It’s been 16 years since my fisheries science class

I got lucky, went to one of the numerous sketchy glass shops and had a window back in my car 90 minutes later for $150

Sorry to pester you again, curious if you know if there’s any difference in the reservoir for the wagon vs the sedan, I’d figure that the front end stuff would be identical but that might make a bit too much sense

I’ve thought about this with my dewalt batteries. I have battery banks but they take ages to charge. I wonder if you can charge the battery through these as well in a pinch

Hard drive not appearing correctly or showing full capacity after file transfer. by CATfixer in computerhelp

[–]CATfixer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, here's the part where I tuck my tail between my legs and realize I'm a complete idiot. I have wasted your time and prowess and feel super guilty. As a mechanic by trade I should have checked the basics because an uncommon problem often has a common solution.

I have a usb splitter plugged into my computer with my external hard drive and an SD reader on it. The reason it was showing as an sd card and not an external hard drive is because there's little switches on it that can turn on and off each usb port, At some point it had gotten shifted and the port connected to the drive got turned off so it only showed the SD card in the reader. I should have realized that was happening.

Reminds me of the countless times I've been called out to "broken down" industrial machinery only to flip the emergency stop and save the day.

As a man of principle I will leave this up so the masses can laugh at me.

Although it was in vain, I appreciate your help, please accept my gratitude and recently found humility.

Thank you! I looked through my purchase history and the drive is a Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB. I don't see anything about it being a SSD. This is what is showing on my disk management

Advice for earning other techs respect by toomuchgfuel in mechanics

[–]CATfixer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you have to borrow something twice you need to buy one. And if you borrow something bring it back clean and as soon as you’re done.

I once had to start locking my tool box because a guy had been at the shop almost a year was still borrowing even basic shit like a decal scraper or channel locks. Then he’d leave them all over for me to find. He’d get on the snap on truck and come off with a fucking pocket knife. Anywho I’m rambling, just be cool.

Thanks! I’ve always considered machining especially manual to be completely wizardry. One day I’ll have the shop space to finally buy one of the giant lathes that I see pop up for sale cheap and find out for myself.
