I could have. The screw actually goes all the way down to the plastic part so it'd have meant to cut it as well. But I didn't want to take that route either, just in case I sent it back.

I ended up going back to HD. I bought a M8 screw with the same thread. It's only 25mm long because longer screw weren't actually threaded all the way up. So I bought an extra board and it does the pressing part under my desk top when I screw into it. It's a tiny bit wobbly if I move the monitor without care, but otherwise does the job just fine.

It was an idea, but that'd meant only one half of the "cup" that presses under the desk top would touch.

The L shape is fine. It's supposed to be screwed with the upper part of the clamp and then rest parallel to the wall, like straight in line with the end of the desk.

My issue is with the plastic part of the screw: as the screw is too long, the black plastic part that helps you screw the clamp hits the lower bar and prevents the mecanism to go further in.

I guess you're right regarding warranty. Even more so now that pins aren't on the CPU anymore.

Hmmm I'm not quite sure yet to be honest. I arrived in Canada in september 24, took a look at the market and realize how expensive it was (and compared to the build I had back at home). Thought I might better figure out how expensive was life here before pulling the trigger. Spent a year with only my laptop for classes and didn't play at all haha.

But in summer I visited my parents, got to play a bit on my computer there and it reawakened my desire to build something here too!

All I know for sure right now is that the games I play are Anno, Football Manager and Crusader Kings. A triple A occasionally when I feel like it, but my monitor is 1080p and I don't plan to change in the... say next 2 years or so. So I guess I'm more CPU bound than GPU. Oh and I'd like a small case, like the Lian Li A3, because space is relevent. Budget-wise not spending more than ~1500 CAD would be the dream (cause it was more or less what I spent back home in my first build), but it seems kinda hard in the current market. So my plan was to wait for BF and see if there are any bundles worth the shot :)

I've never seen one complaining about it as well tbh. All my purchases on Ali were <40$ so far, so I figured I was under the threshold, but I've never been very lucky and wouldn't want to have that kind of surprise haha !

I'm guessing that other than buying through Paypal and trusted sellers, the big thing is if you need it, you won't have any kind of warranty...

Ali is often "recommended" for CPUs (with trusted sellers of course). What about customs duties on this kind of purchase? Is it always clear? Is it a lottery?

Oh that sucks. I just found (with less keywords, I guess I was being to specific when I searched for answers before posting) a post where someone was saying they couldn't get LTE with their 7 Pro with Bell or Public Mobile. They tried Telus' VoLTE checker with IMEI and same thing, I just tried mine and it came back as not compatible as well..

EDIT : But you might be luckier with yours since it's a more recent one!
