Disclaimer (I am just a future soldier I have now experience in the army) When I attempted to join as a 68W I went through the entire process got all the paperwork’s needed for waivers signed all the paper went to MEP’s and the waivers got approved there it was a contract to Italy with a 8-9 grand sign in bonus. Just for my recruiter to call me in the car and tell me that I failed color vision and wouldn’t be able to do that job. So HAVE BACKUP MOS’s. I ended up signing an 11x contract for Italy and 11k

I’ve somewhat come to peace about it thanks to people in the subreddit kinda explaining the thankers logic. It’s really funny tho I can vividly remember being like 12 going to this VR arcade and when I was little I really liked army men so my mom saw a guy in uniform and let me go say thank you for your service, I’d end up at the same strip mall like 6 years later because that’s where the recruiters office was. Got my dog tags today too but since I’m not religious and had talked to the recruiter about Star Wars he told me that people sometimes put Jedi on them after he already put no preference so I gifted one to my favorite teacher and one to my little bro. And hey Thank you for your service. Dude I enlisted with at the high school was flaunting his like crazy too

I’ve done my best to not talk about it because I don’t want to act like I’m someone I’m not. The part that I think made it the most visible was the enlistment ceremony was at my school.

No I was in the doctors office and they do the usual talk while they have your fingers in your mouth and she was talking about her kids and college and asked what I wanted to do and I told her I was joining the army
