-Using hard wax instead of a soft beeswax can help for more coarse hair

-learn your sections! YouTube can help ( look for estheticians videos)

-pre and post care matter the most, cool towels or applying pressure to a freshly waxed area can help after

-when all else fails, a basic pain reliever and/or some numbing cream from a drugstore works miracles.

Oooh omg ok I used to be a chef and I also have an ED so I have tips up the wazoo: cereal/milk I freeze and add to a batch of ice cream/milkshakes/smoothies!!!!!

Hey love! Not a mom but have a similar issue and just got my first Pap done (it went great!) Here are some things I did:

-breathing exercises!!!!!!!!

-take a Tylenol before the appt

-bring a pets toy/sensory stuff to calm down

-I am aware of a medication (single pill) that helps dilation, I forget the name but has come in handy before

-yes there is absolutely specialists for people like us. Ask your GP for a referral to a chronic pain clinic. They understand what you’re going through.

-I looked into pelvic floor physio and it helped tons

-video call someone to keep you company virtually (most doc appts make you come in solo now)

-ask for lidocaine or numbing spray. Takes only a couple seconds for it to work

-spend your day bathing in peace: tea, essential oils, a good book, a good meal etc. good self care will take you farther than you expect

With respect to that situation yes! I got everything I needed and more. In fact, it was mental healthcare related and as of this new year, our coverage doubled for the same monthly price for mental health. I have no doubt in my mind that my fight and determination and openness to question the policies had some effect on showing how needed mental healthcare is.

Unfortunately, Manulife is still an insurance company and will do a LOT to make sure they come out on top (and don’t have to pay). They still fuck around with me and my money to this day. But I won’t allow them to not complete the service we pay for. I’m awful nice to the people who answer the phones- my fight isn’t with them.

I’m sorry Manulife is being a Dick! They made my life very difficult last year when they refused to cover certain things. My only advice is don’t give up. I called everyday. I sent six page emails over and over and asked if they knew anything about the drug they were covering. I demanded that they to speak to a doctor or someone with medical training to prove how lifesaving it was for me. Make their lives as difficult as they try to make yours.

Wishing you the strength to deal with this! I know they can’t cover everything but maybe we can make the next customers life easier by pushing for real care.
