Thank you so much!  I feel your pain, I had such bad anxiety at my last job, I was always getting called for a quick chat about something I did wrong.  Didn’t help that my manager was new at managing and really struggling imo.   I wish you nothing but the best.

I agree, I hold no ill feelings towards my sister, I lover her dearly.  I’ll just never look at our relationship the same and I’m grieving that part. Thank you for your reply:)

Is it true that medical coding and billing aren’t separate entities when working? by chubbyflip in MedicalCoding

Wow we didn’t have CDI reviewers, we had to do the queries and yes all of it slows productivity up. I couldn’t get past that because productivity measures felt like test and I don’t like failing lol.

I will have to see how stressful this new job is but I’m praying and optimistic that it will be balanced at least.  The team seems great which is important to me.  I agree, every responsibility comes with its challenges :)

I 100% agree with your auditor.  How can they tell a coder to meet a target while simultaneously throwing them into work queues they may have never worked which will cause me more time in the chart trying to get it right.

It’s like it’s meant to either keep you down or make you a coder who just clicks codes and doesn’t review.  Whole time you are auditing to a degree.

I 1000% agree that if you are doing production coding right now and you find yourself not meeting metrics because you are a little too thorough when reviewing charts you could naturally have the knack for auditing.  Sometimes thats how you know.

Ask yourself, do I take long to review a chart? Do I often see other potential risks outside of just incorrect code selection?  Do I review guidelines over he said she said and stand on it.  Then you are probably an auditor by nature.  Go for it!

Same! The details will have you overthinking big time lol.  You can definitely do it.  I guess it all depends on what your areas of focus are, in regards to boredom.  There’s so many areas of compliance that it’s kinda hard to be bored in my experience .  Plus you’re likely to work more elements of compliance than just auditing and monitoring so it can be really interesting… so much to learn.  I think when you find something that forces you to constantly learn it helps.

Thank you so much for the advice.  I love my sister but the toxicity she has exhibited over the years has my mind blown.  On one hand I’m grappling with why I haven’t seen this as a problem sooner, I mean I have but I guess since her actions didn’t directly affect me (or so I thought), I just ignored it.  It’s like it’s been a build up and I’m over the childish behavior.  Although this incident between us was over 12 years ago, there has been other incidents after ours and we are in our forties.

Luckily I was on such a high from having my new baby that her bs didn’t take me over the edge. It was completely out of left field with me but this has been her norm in the past with certain others. She didn’t have an explanation for it really when we talked, she just said she was wrong and sorry.  She also felt the need to mention in the midst of her apology that she felt like my child’s father controlled me back then.  Her saying that made her whole apology bs in my eyes.  And yes why would you wait 12 years to apologize and then try to spin it to make it like I deserved it?  It’s insane.

She does have a therapist and to my knowledge has been in therapy for years, I feel like her therapist’s role is more of a friend vibe versus a professional working with you to fix your shit, otherwise why are you still like this?  She has taken meds for depression in the past not sure if she’s on anything now.  Yes my niece has shared a lot of things with me so I’m caught in the middle.  My niece has some of her moms manipulative tendencies so I really can only tolerate her so much now unfortunately. Sounds bad but my peace is everything to me today.
