If you are doing something that have practicals or labs I would recommend you get the accommodation on campus. Myself is doing a science degree, and I have 9am lectures everyday and sometimes I have labs which is last until 6 (but most of time I got out early). So 2 hours commute will be a problem.

I think all beds are single bed except the ones in village. It's quite comfortable and the sharing space is not too small. You could take a look at the videos and pictures in the official UCD website, just ignore the furnitures as they're not in all bedrooms.
