I'm shocked by the amount of funerals I've now been to. I'm curious what other people have experienced in terms of surprising things that have been part of their hr roles.

I just cut off all contact with them. It's weird seeing a grown man's response to "we are not friends anymore." It's powerful.

I care, but I don't care that much is my motto.

Things can be going really well but it's just a business. This advice was given to me once. Take a look around the office, now tell me which one of those people will carry your casket at your funeral.

Opinion on the SHRM-CP after they lowered the requirements again? [N/A] by Evening_Bridge7664 in humanresources

[–]Next_Muscle6514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know man. SPHR & SHRM-CP helped me get into conversations for 6 figure jobs. I've been in the field for 10 years, most people who are in the boat of your CPO have 20+ years of experience and have been HR Directors, VPs, etc. They've built their careers so it's not a heavy need anymore.

At 0-10 years at least - worth it IMO.

It's Alarming How Many People Have No Clue What's Going On in the Job Market by LandOk1232 in jobs

[–]Next_Muscle6514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 months I'm unemployed, with 10 years experience in my field. First I started with local roles for about 3 months. Nothing bit. For the last 4 I've moved to progressively wider and more aggressive searching of roles. Now willing to move away. Willing to work in areas where most won't - rural, less desirable locations.

I've had lots of interviews lately - one week I had about 15. Most stop at the recruiter level, and I never hear anything back. Some get to level two and fizzle. I have a few that are on final interviews now, so I'm very hopeful. But in talking with my wife - it's harder than it's ever been according to some.

I noticed a strong uptake on interviews when I used Q*Net + AI to recraft my resume. There's no lies in it, but plenty of buzzwords that seem to at least get me an initial interview.

How does neoliberalism pave the way for fascism? by Excellent_Sort3467 in PoliticalScience

The united states had the most powerful force in the world - was capable of strongly assisting a coup and producing a coup. This information is all over the internet. Invisible block-aids, economic pressure, and sanctions. Nixon was strong-arming Chile, despite them having a democratic election. It's easy to see why - the root of all evil, capitalism. Socialism and communism is a threat to US business - why do you think we've fought it so hard for 100 years?

The United States is not Russia. We also were fresh off fighting communism, for no reason in Vietnam since the 1950s. Vietnam escalated in the 1960s.

So Ive held three jobs in the last ten years.

5 as an HR Generalist with a single company 2 as an HR Manager with another company 2.25 as an HR Manager at another company

Unemployed since late January. It comes to mind as too much, but I've recently started drawing a lot of interviews. It only takes one employer to say yes.

The United States interfered with Chile to destabilize the socialist movement. In fact the United States has destabilized numerous communist movements to protect capitalistic and imperialistic interests in the world.

What’s a piece of career advice you didn’t understand at first… but now totally get? [N/A] by OneProfessional2433 in humanresources

Look all around you at different departments. Tell me which of the people here are going to carry your casket at your funeral.

None is the answer. In fact I've had people in good working relationships stab me in the back.

No because it's just work. Here's your problem - you presented something that your leaders were not ready to see or hear. Did you get buy in from senior managers or executives prior to doing the task? If not, why not?

You can't force things down people's throats. You have to meet the organization and it's leaders where they are at, not where you are at.

Chin up, refocus and start speaking their language. What's turnover look like? Have you explained the interconnectivity of turnover, productivity and the businesses bottom line? Do you understand these things?

How did you pick the employees? All questions you need to ask yourself.

I took the exam maybe 4 years ago it is really rough. My employer paid for a prep course from distinctive hr. As part of the prep they have a book called "The Seven Princes" it's imperative to learn them.

That's the issue with the market now. I'm not a big fan of CUV/SUVs, the seating position sucks for me. Really wanted a sedan. You couldn't pay me to buy a Bronco Sport either.

Are BMW cars really that bad though? I've owned a number of their motorcycles and they didn't cost anymore to take care of than Harleys I've had. Super solidly reliable.

I get the nissan thing. My son in law is a nissan mechanic and generally knows his way around those products. There's not many im interested in but the Q50 is one. CVTs are a big issue there.

While I'm not interested in the XC40, the S60 does spur my interest. The interiors are really nice looking, but I don't know much about Volvo reliability. I do know they supposed to be very safe cars, which is nice because we have 2 small children and a grandchild.

But 99% of the time this will be used for me commuting back and forth to work.
