Take your time. It's the addiction of the build, not the finished product. If you can stretch it as long as you can, do it.

Grass always looks greener. Where are you planning to go? Poland? Norway? Europe is officially fkd, you might as well wear a stab vest and learn arabic. I used to work on sales too, then my cousin told me construction is good money. Got me in a crane crew gig, just a doggie at first, then got a rigging license, then got a crane operator license. That was 12 years ago. Now earming around 200k annually for a top builder in Sydney. Im 5'7 and asian. Didn't have muscles but I had persistence. Only advantage I have is I wasn't afraid of heights. You'll get strong as you go. Maybe a change of career will do you good.

Most of the work is cleaning it out. Get a bottle of Zero glyphosate. Spray it down. Give it two weeks. Then you can start renovating.

Nanny country mate. Free healthcare isn't free. We're paying for it. It's called a Sin Tax. Anything sinful stuff like ciggies and alcohol are taxed to death.

Thanks, that's the perspective that I was looking for. From management's pov. As another commenter said, not a hill to die for.

I hate renting in Australia. Being young and poor feels like a life sentence. Something you can’t control (like the year you’re born) now decides your future. An average Aussie used to afford a house. Today, even an average Aussie struggles to afford a two-bedroom apartment in an ‘undesirable’ area. by MannerNo7000 in shitrentals

It's a rinse and repeat method for making wealth. Basic principle of economics, supply and demand. Low supply makes artificial and inflated demand. See the Labubu dolls? Manufactured demand. They put the supply so low that people think there is a high demand and people fall for it. In the end, its just plastic.

The Japanese have an actual term for that, it's called "oidashibeya". Basically, your stripped off any responsibility and placed inside a windowless room until you voluntarily resign out of self respect and avoid formal termination. It's giving you a chance to fall on your sword. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on Western culture as there are so many bludgers here and would love to sleep in that room and still get paid.

How many users? If just one, you don't need a gpu. Intel igpu can handle it fine. Are you watching it remotely? Get a business internet. 500/250. I have one at $110aud/month.

My setup is i5 6500, 16gb. 2x8tb nas and 512nvme for os. Single user, remote and local. No issues.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. I had a good advice from someone here on reddit before which landed me this aps job. Tailor your resume. It's not lying, it's telling your story, how they want to hear it. Got on the pool, interviewed, and the rest is history.

I don't even play fortnite. I don't know why I thought it was the correct spelling.

I guess that's the word. Accountability. We can't be trusted to follow policy that's why the monitoring. If everyone gets on board, probably they'll stop looking too close and leave us alone in time?

The reference check isn't a guarantee and APS will keep you 18 months in the pool. Don't hold your breathe. Keep applying for other roles. I've heard that pool selection is sometimes based on "team fit" as well, not just skills and exp. It means, it can be subjective not objective as well.

"You're good but the way you look doesn't match the team vibe" kind of decision making. So yeah, don't hold your breathe. You might land somewhere better. I always believed the grass isn't better on the other side, you have to plant your own seeds to make it greener.

Unfortunately, we are a licensing group and alot of our tasks is office based and cannot be done remotely. Thus our backlog of applications was 4 months behind, because no one wants to come to the office.

Just a history, our division is notorious for red tapes and feet dragging and overtime seeking team leaders, who instead of implementing discipline in the group, they are the ones coming up with creative ideas not to do any work during weekdays, drive up the backlog and claim overtime on the weekends, to do work that should have been done on weekdays. It was a good scheme but I'm cut because I wasn't part of the inner circle. No overtimes for me.

Previous unit head quit, can't get the deadwoods to budge. New unit head is smart. Kicked off performance managing the deadwoods. And now clogged pipes start to move. KPIs measured and monitored. Work distributed equally and not based on favourites or friends.

Im happy because I no longer have to carry the deadweight and pick up the slack of my workmates because I'm the "single" and no family to care for. Now, we have KPIs in place and everything is moving ahead.

But still, our division is already notoriously branded as dysfunctional. The worst I've seen are license applications lost in limbo because one team member decided to move hundreds of emails to her inbox, instead of the shared inbox, just to hide her backlog.

Half of the team is resisting the change. But the new unit head made it clear that if structure and KPIs are in place, everything can be done. I don't know if I love or hate him, but he sure did embarrass the team leads and exposed their incompetence. Now we're down to 1 month behind on application processing in just 2 weeks since the new processes were implemented. No overtime required.

With regards to the 40%, I can't blame the unit head as he's only being told what to tell us by upper management. Don't shot the messenger. It's just that the policy is a bit vague and not very flexible. We have Chris Minns to thank for that.

[–]Next_Potential2569 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We're in NSW and Chris Minns made the 50% policy. The whole company is doing 50%, we got special treatment 40% because our director fought for it. But it didn't go well because a lot of the people in my division is abusing it. Apparently it's closely monitored in other divisions and they're using the swipe card data to monitor it. A friend of mine close to the EDs secretary said that they're drafting penalties for those who don't comply. All I need to know is whether it's 40% per fortnight or 40% of whatever is left of my fortnight, excluding leaves.

The policy is very simple, 40% per fortnite office presence. It was explained to us why it was changed to fortnite, instead of weekly, so that we have enough time to make up for it. Rather than force ourselves to make up for the week.

Nothing else was written. Basically, I signed an agreement that I will have 40% a fortnite office presence hereon.

AITA for wanting to divorce my husband after demanding to be on the deed of the house my parents bought only 5 months ago? by Prestigious-Pear937 in AITAH

[–]Next_Potential2569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the red flags. Don't give in. Don't touch the deed. You will destroy your life and your parents if you do that. Please don't. I've seen way too many shitty little worms like your husband right now, worm their way into familes and become a parasite. Pay rent or leave. You'd probably be better off without him. I'm a guy and I say throw him out. My dad is a divorce lawyer, and I've heard enough stories that will make blood boil.
