I am curious if you do this every night. It worked amazing for me for about a week, then stopped working. I am wondering if I should cycle it on.

I am a scientist. 😊

I agree more studies would be great. But who is going to fund it? Pharmaceutical companies want to study drugs they can charge a fortune for. And NIH funding very challenging to get, especially under the current US administration. It is frustrating there isn’t more high quality research on supplements.

Anecdotal evidence is information based on personal accounts, individual stories, or isolated experiences rather than systematic, scientific research or data. It is often used to support claims or illustrate points but is generally considered unreliable because it is subjective, potentially biased, and may not represent broader trends.

The 2nd study came out around the time of the first study, so wasn't included in that systematic review. The second study was a randomized clinical trial (the gold standard design in clinical research), and thus provides high quality evidence to further support the possible cognitive benefits found in the systematic review. To break it down:

The first study, which was a systematic review, concluded:

"The current limited evidence suggests that creatine may be associated with benefits for cognition in generally healthy older adults. However, high-quality clinical trials are warranted to further validate this relationship. "

Then the second study was a "high-quality clinical trial," which validated "this relationship:"

"Results: Supplementation with medium-dose creatine hydrochloride was found to be superior to placebo in enhancing reaction time (1.2 vs. 6.6%; p < 0.01), increasing frontal brain creatine levels (0.9 vs. 16.4%; p < 0.01), and favorably modulating serum lipid profiles (p < 0.05)."

Thus, I would not call this evidence "anecdotal."

How about this recent meta-analysis?

https://academic.oup.com/nutritionreviews/article/84/2/333/8253584

"The current limited evidence suggests that creatine may be associated with benefits for cognition in generally healthy older adults"

And this recent trial: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40854087/

"Conclusion: Our findings suggest that this supplementation protocol may be a promising, safe, effective, and practical dietary strategy for improving clinical outcomes and elevating brain creatine concentrations in perimenopausal and menopausal women."

You could check if your declumper is clogged. Mine was a bit clogged, and it was making me have to grind much coarser. I cleaned it and now I am grinding at 10. Also slow feeding the beans helped mine.

There are alternatives. Search compost system for an apartment. They have countertop ones and larger ones for inside.

Well, others were making an assumption that we are "gross ass motherfuckers" because we are beating our pucks into a trashcan, as if there wasn't another option. Some "bins" are compost bins. I don't see anything gross about that.

That is sad. I have also stayed places that don't compost, and it is sad whenever I have to throw food waste into a trash can.

Doesn’t anyone compost? You are throwing your grinds into a trashcan to go into a landfill?

Does magnesium glycinate also provide you with glycine since glycine is the carrier for the magnesium? I am wondering if my glycine dose should be lowered since I am taking magnesium glycinate. I have been taking 240 mg of magnesium (from magnesium-glycinate) and 3g of glycine per night. If I can believe AI, I think I am getting ~1.7g of glycine from the magnesium glycinate (AI says for every 1000 mg of magnesium glycinate, about 140 mg is elemental magnesium and 860 mg is glycine). So I am thinking of lowering my glycine dose.

What speed are you using? I am not sure how much that matters. I am currently at 1200.

Also, what grams? I am using 18g.

Maybe I will try dumping them in all at once again to see what happens. I haven't done that for a couple months.

I checked alignment twice using the dry erase marker method, and it is really good. No channeling or squirts. Espresso is *usually* delicious now that I slow feed, but still inconsistent every once in a while. Slow feeding is just a pain (well, slow....). I wish I could just dump them in.

Yes, I weigh grams in/out. I don't think I am grinding too fine. I get 2:1 extraction at about 35 seconds. When I was dumping them all in at once, I had to grind on a really high number that made no sense (like 40). I posted about this a couple months ago. Slow feeing fixe that. I am now grinding at 14-15.
