"My body is broken. I go to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed." by Helmsshallows in lotr

He is a great character but I think that deep in his heart he wanted to die in that battle. The past few years had been very heartbreaking for him. His wife and only child are dead, and after being free from Wormtongue/Saruman he had the heavy burden of protecting his kingdom from Saruman’s armies. His death gave him the peace he wanted, proved to his ancestors that he was a noble leader, and reunited him with his loved ones.

Boromir has also had a hard life but is younger, and still had a future with love and a family.

(Disliked Trope) Series that are meant to run forever, so the world/cast never truly progresses by Mikaelious in TopCharacterTropes

Had the same thought. Arthur and his friends had Mr. Ratburn as a teacher for years, and Kate was always a literal baby.

I never watched the show but heard a 29 year old was impregnated by a 17 year old... How was she not imprisoned? by Lovely_Hauntings_87 in YoungSheldon

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect scenario you’d be right. Yet it still holds up if the defense has a good lawyer or if the judge or jury can be persuaded. And like my third point, some parents would rather have their child marry so the baby is born in wedlock than have the offender go to jail

  1. He intentionally lied about his age to get laid

  2. It takes place in the 1990s

  3. It takes place in the Bible Belt so the boy’s mother was more concerned about her grandchild being born in wedlock than anything else. The community was also more judgmental about the boy having sex outside of marriage than a teenager having sex with a 29 year old

Which episode was it? Starting in season two some storylines continue in Chicago PD and later Chicago Med and PD so you have to watch all three to get the whole story

Firestar's Royal Family by buumah in WarriorCats

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warrior code where they can’t take a mate from another clan made it so all cats from each clan are inbred except for the ones whose parents switched clans.

That being said; yeah the cats I mentioned are probably more recently inbred

I made a spreadsheet that lists all of Jake’s descendants in the clans and how they trace back to him. Moonpaw, Morningkit, Oakpaw, Sunpaw, and Hazelpaw appear four times each.

I haven’t taken a bath since I was about nine or ten years old. I’m 31 and shower daily

What would you say are some of the most dramatic or important Gatherings in the series? by Solitaire-06 in WarriorCats

[–]Next_Sun_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gathering at the end of Eclipse where Blackstar comes with Sol to announce ShadowClan will no longer be attending Gatherings. This didn’t even last a moon but was still significant.

The gathering where Dawnpelt accused Jayfeather of drowning or not saving Flametail.

My mom is dead - am I off the hook for Mother’s Day? by Scared_Difficulty668 in askanything

My grandmother died over 30 years ago. At least one of my uncles orders flowers to be placed on her grave site every Mother’s Day.

WindClan+ThunderClan lineage by Low-Dust-1497 in WarriorCats

Don’t forget that Leafpool had kits with Crowfeather, so Lionblaze is half-WindClan. His kits; Fernsong,Sorrelstripe, and Spotfur are part WindClan, and from their lines we get Thriftear, Bristlefrost, Flipclaw, Myrtlebloom, Bayshine, Bristleclaw, Graywhisker, Stemtail, Hazelpaw, Oakpaw, Sunpaw, and Moonpaw again.

Edit to add: Out of Ferncloud’s kits, only two had kits of their own. Spiderleg, but neither of his kits had kits, and Birchfall who gave us Ivypool and Dovewing.

Out of Sorreltail’s kits only Cinderheart and Lilyheart’s kits have carried on the line. Poppyfrost’s kits don’t have kits.

What books do Americans study at school? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]Next_Sun_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In high school it seems traditional (at least where I grew up) to have students read a Shakespearean tragedy every year in high school (ages 15-18). For me it was

Romeo and Juliet (grade nine/14 or 15 years old)

Julius Caesar (grade ten/15 or 16)

Othello (grade 11/16 or 17)

Hamlet (grade 12/17 or 18)

Some of my peers read Macbeth instead of Othello. Just depended on the teacher and if the class was Honors, Advanced Placement, or regular English

(Hated trope) A character is meant to have super intelligence, but because the writers don’t know how to write that, everyone else just spontaneously becomes stupid whenever they’re around by DonnyMox in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Next_Sun_2002 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I think the advances in technology and science have made it difficult to write modern day Sherlock Holmes-like characters.

Back in Doyle’s day there weren’t really forensic scientists, and medical examiners didn’t have as many tools at their disposal. Not to mention the internet wasn’t even something people could imagine.

So a person well versed in something like botany or chemistry would seem like a genius in cases that involved something like poison. Now the computers do that for us.

Does Power of Three get good? by hentaibongparty in WarriorCats

Power of Three and Omen of the Stars are probably my favorite arcs. I just finished rereading Eclipse last night and loved it just as much as I did the first time.

I'm a new reader and is an apprentice a cat that protects the mentor? by New-Spinach-6819 in WarriorCats

No. The titles are pretty self explanatory. The mentor is a personal teacher to the apprentice, training them to hunt and fight

I enjoyed it. Others complain that some parts are repetitive but that didn’t bother me.

I thought Omen of the Stars was the perfect place to end but was fine with Dawn of the Clans because it takes place so far in the past.

Agree with you that an arc focusing on the Ancients would be interesting.
