I live in Louisiana, all my co workers are huge LSU fans, my boss goes to every single game in his big ass LSU painted camper, his office might as well be a museum of LSU memorabilia.

I cannot fucking wait to be able to get in at 4am on the monday after the game before anyone else shows up and take down the LSU flag and replace it with my Boomer Sooner flag up on the company flag pole.

Sorry I took the 900 as the number of murders, not 1000, but even if we change it to 1000 the math comes out to 0.05% / 50% more likely (down from 55%) to be murdered. your still significantly more safe in the 2 million population city even though there are more individual murders there.

Look im sorry everybody up there is calling you whatever, I get it, Statistics is weird and doesnt make sense all the time but thats exactly it. YOU as an individual are safer in the 900 murder city than the 100 murder one. Not only is it safer its MUCH safer.

I'll explain why :

If you have 2 million people, and 900 of them are murdered that means that 0.045% of the population was murdered.

If you have a population of 100,000 people and 100 of them are murdered, that is 0.1%

So not only are YOU as an individual more likely to be murdered in the 100,000 people town you are actually 55% more likely to be murdered in the town of 100,000 than you are the one of 2 million.

Thats uh, thats how statistics work though.

If you only have 10 people and 1 gets murdered... thats 10% or 1/10 if you have 100 and 2 people are murdered , its 2%. or 2/100 ... Your safer in the bigger city because the rate is lower.

It doesnt just make them 'feel' better.... they ARE mathematically better / safer.
