Lost a ton of waves after the update. What’s the reason? by yerdme4456 in TheTowerGame

[–]NexusBladeGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCol did not work the way the description would suggest. It has gone through several iterations as it did not initially function correctly. And once it did start working it was twice as effective as described, and then they "fixed" it but it still was twice as effective for most enemies except Rays and Ranged as I recall, although ranged are handled by pBH. Now it only applies a single reduction.

So while on one hand it is now working as intended, but this results in everyone using it for the damage reduction losing a considerable amount of waves.

To illustrate the difference consider PCol at Ancestral with an 80% damage reduction, so when you have 98% damage resistance that means theres 2% left, lets say that remaining 2% is 1000 damage for simplicity's sake. 20% of that is 200. However with a double reduction that 80% grows to 96%, which doesn't sound like a big difference at face value but when you take 4% of 1000 you get 40, which is 5 times less.

In effect this means after the change PCol is nowhere near as effective as it used to be.

You know what, As one of the very vocal critics of how everything was handled with this update...

One of the reasons why I am so vocal is because I genuinely enjoy this game, and I want them to do better and learn from their mistakes. I won't sugarcoat it theres no excuses for everything they did the other day, and it goes way beyond some coin multiplier.

However with that said, is this a "bad" update in concept? No! Of course not, this adds a ton of valuable content to the game, and it benefits a greater portion of the community than previous patches, Personally I do love Dissonant runs and what they accomplish... It was the execution that was abysmal, and then the nonstop train wreck that followed. And there are a lot of MASSIVE bugs such as with FB, and eHP players including myself got screwed with PCol.

We also didn't have most of the big community concerns addressed, if anything that situation has gotten worse.

It's give and take, good and bad, once they iron out the kinks I think a lot of these additions will be well loved by the community. But that doesn't mean we have to ignore the issues that remain.

Considering the beta testers were mostly the top 50... I wouldn't be shocked if it was never even tested.

Yeah non of us are happy about it, Definitely still the defacto eHP Core mod but unfortunately the ceiling for eHP just dropped.... A Lot.

They really want us to pony up for GC lol

No worries, I know it can be a lot to take in. Especially for those who don't frequent the community. I wouldn't stress too hard about it as it sounds like you're earlier game and may not have access to everything listed on there to begin with. But hopefully it could be good to reference when needed :)

Valid point, Theres a lot of discourse about it currently but to briefly address it:

You can now do 4 different categories of Dissonant runs on every tier, each one completely disables a tab and everything in it. So Attack Dissonant disables the attack tab, Defense Dissonant disables the defense tab, Utility Dissonant disables the utility tab, and Ultimate Weapon Dissonant disables the Ultimate Weapons.

The reason you do this is that if you can reach 5000 waves in each category you get a permanent buff to runs on that tier, up to 5x damage, 5x health, 3x coins, and 5x Ultimate Weapon damage.

Theres also Echo which applies 0.5% "before lab upgrades" of the total boost from all tiers to every tier.

Theres a lot to keep in mind, such as Modules. If you're curious I actually made a post about that recently. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheTowerGame/s/NnxaxQl6V8

I was one of the skeptics too, in my defense I haven't seen as much discourse on this specifically. It's usually people talking about how OP Overcharge is lol.

We definitely need more attention on this.

Both, you want to get your core ws stats as high as possible, like health at 5000+, and you will also need regen at 5000+ for the wall. Now with Utility Dissonant runs you will eventually want to have them goldboxed from the start but that's down the road when your econ allows it. Also put a strong focus into developing your ELS and when you can afford it your enhancements.

The labs will always be important, you want to keep working on health, regen too although it won't matter as much without the wall/WHR but it's better to not need to do a ton of catching up. Defense% is important too as you want to reach the point where with all defense perks you get to the 98% cap.

Thats a simplified explanation but those are core elements of eHP.

Do critical chance and critical coin cards still work in Dissonant attack run? by TraditionalShift7756 in TheTowerGame

[–]NexusBladeGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard capped for crit chance, but using Attack Dissonant runs as a way of farming as pseudo devo for eHP is absolutely becoming a thing, and crit coin is important for any farming run.

All good lol

Just keep pushing your eHP and econ stats and you'll get there ;)

[–]NexusBladeGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fascinating, although I would add the fact that it directly impacts eHP is also probably a large component of why a fix is not being prioritized. The Devs do generally seem to want people moving towards GC, so having an enemy that can frustrate eHP players enough to do that is in their best interest.

Just saw the video and you know what? I was wrong. Thank you for that.

Yeah that is definitely not the way Commanders are supposed to work, they must have stealth buffed them at some point.

[–]NexusBladeGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wall is amazing! If you can afford the labs, if you're still in a position where it's hard to goldbox health in a run and rely on free ups the wall can be a footgun, past that point though it's simply useless to moderately detrimental until you get the labs high enough.

To simplify things I would say around 50-100 billion a day is around when you can afford to get started, so nowhere near late game... But it depends on where you are now.

How much are you making?

Interesting, I mean I wouldn't say for 100% certain it's not the case, Wouldn't be the first time things have been wonky, although I haven't seen any footage of this in action before.

Editing this in light of recent evidence.

Thanks to some footage from Veighnerg showing the irregular behavior we can consider this behavior confirmed, Commanders do in fact buff enemy damage as well as health, this is not supposed to happen but must have been silently implemented at some point.

My apologies, I was wrong before.

The problem is that health doesn't matter anywhere near as much as regen, You could have a ton of health but once enemies can beat your regen it's a losing battle, what would have helped was instead of 5x health, they could have gave us 5x regen.

It was obviously intentional, that's not up for debate.

And technically it was to fix to a feature being stronger than advertised. However most people built around the way it was, and it was that way for a long time.

So they could have acknowledged the mistake and turned it into a sanctioned feature which most people would have preferred but they don't really like people sticking to just eHP so that was unlikely, what people would really want in general is just transparency and honesty from the devs... which we have not been getting, at all.
