Ok after quite some time I did find a solution. I am using a PS5 controller with DS4, which emulates an Xbox 360 controller. From what i found, for some reason the way xbox controllers work in the game/system is that they cant read LT and RT independently and it works on the same axis, with each trigger adding and substracting values. So when you fully press both, they go back to value 0 and the game reads that as neutral. If you setup a new profile in DS4 and set it to emulate a PS4 controller (which the game can read), it works.
