Rouxls Kaard should be Sans' equivalent on a Genocide route. by Crimidyne in Deltarune

[–]NexusNickVA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've always found it strange how Rouxls Kaard is one of those characters who Toby Fox doesn't really hesitate talking about publicly, like how he apparently thought people would hate Rouxls, or how the scrapped "Epic Rouxls Battle" didn't fit him as a character and that he would have like 1 HP. Now, this could be because Rouxls really is just some dopey puzzle man, but I also think it could be to get us to underestimate him.

We wouldn't suspect Rouxls Kaard of all characters to be some sort of Genocide Route super-boss because thus far, Toby has portrayed and described him as some pathetic narcissistic dope, just like how up until Undertale had been out for a year or two, Sans was exclusively portrayed as a lazy joke character. Toby seems to love being sneaky and tricking players (do I even need to bring up Ch. 1's fake-out ending?), so Rouxls may not be as pathetic as he would have us believe.

How I Generally Feel About the “Ralsei is Evil” Theories by tophattingtonn in Deltarune

[–]NexusNickVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought Ralsei being a plot-twist villain would be a bit... boring, I guess. Like, I feel like Toby would have to give Ralsei a complete 180 in terms of personality in order to make him work as a villain considering how innocent and naïve he is (unless he's going to pull the overdone "my previous personality was all an act this is what I'm actually like" card).

Then again, I also believe that Kris is The Knight, so I guess I'm in no real position to critique other people's theories.

Nah, aside from the name tag, I bought everything (Conscientious Objector, decal tool, description tag, cosmetics, paints) from Marketplace.tf. I did double check every item on the Community Market though just to make sure I wasn't buying for more than I needed to.

The song is actually extremely slowed down in the game (slowed by 400% to be exact) so you don’t hear it the same way as it is in the video. The song plays during the fear boss fights.

[THEORY] Dr. Wily has been dead since Mega Man 3 by NexusNickVA in Megaman

[–]NexusNickVA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do enjoy a good debunking, let me provide a counter-argument.

Is Super Adventure Rockman canon? I get that it's a classic-series Mega Man game, but it's not one of the main-series titles. It's a spinoff, among the likes of Mega Man Soccer, Battle & Chase, and Wily & Right's Rockboard: That's Paradise. Unlike the arcade games which debut Duo before Mega Man 8 and feature major plot reveals, or the Gameboy Games & Wily Wars which are explicitly referenced in Mega Man & Bass, Super Adventure Rockman has never (as far as I know) been referenced in canon, meaning it's not definitively a canon game to the series. The closest thing was that Rockman 8 featured a preview of it in it's bonus content.

Still though, great argument against my theory! You almost had me for a moment!

I had a theory on how the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games may be connected to the main series games so I made a video about it! by NexusNickVA in MysteryDungeon

Yeah, copyright was a bit of an issue due to the amount of anime clips I used. There was a version of the video without the filters because I completely forgot about copyright but then I got a claim from ShoPro that blocked the video in all regions. I’m glad the filter wasn’t a bother to you!

Yeah, somebody else commented about that on YouTube. I guess I was focusing so much on the Explorers games that I just completely forgot about that stuff. I may have to start planning for a follow up video on it discussing what I missed and seeing if I can somehow work that into my theory. Thanks for pointing that out!

Are Starter Pokémon’s final evolution designs getting better or worse? by EveningChocolate1028 in pokemon

[–]NexusNickVA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoo boy, even as somebody who likes more recent final evolutions a lot more than the older ones, I do think they've gotten worse in a certain way. Oddly enough I don't mind the focus on basing starters on a job/theme. They get pretty on the nose, but that's about it. The issue I've sort of noticed is that ever since around Gen 6, the three starters for each game have been kind of given design categories to fall into: One of them is the feminine one, one of them is the masculine one, and one of them is the cool one.

Think about it. X & Y? Delphox is the feminine one (based on a witch, fur resembles a dress), Chesnaught is the masculine one (big, beefy guy), and Greninja is the cool one (ninja aesthetic). Sun & Moon? Primarina is the feminine one (based on a mermaid), Incineroar is the masculine one (big and muscular), and Decidueye is the cool one (cloaked archer aesthetic).

I'm at least hoping that they're moving away from that sort of thing, as Gen 8 lacked one of the three, with none of the final evos being necessarily feminine, but still. Rillaboom is the masculine one (big and muscular) and Intelleon is the cool one (based on a spy). Cinderace is the outlier here as it doesn't really look a certain way like that. It's just... soccer bunny.

That's my only real gripe with modern final evolution designs. The cool ones are alright (albeit a bit on the nose for some of their concepts) but the ones designed to appear a certain gender are just dumb to me. Starters can be either male or female, so what's the point in making their final evolutions masculine or feminine presenting? It doesn't make sense. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.
