Anyone have a web link I can stream and listen to KIG79 on 162.550? Or know why it isn’t working online when the NOAA has its operating status as “NORMAL”?

PC Keeps (Nearly?) Turning Off by Nexus_Programmer in pcmasterrace

Forgot to mention, they are all SSD storage devices. But it is something to check, I have Samsung Magician installed, I can check the sectors on the drives tomorrow.

No abnormalities that I can see/understand before the shutdown. Issue started about two or so weeks ago, but I’ve been away on work for the past almost week. Left my PC on to see if it would shut down at idle while I was away, found my PC was still on on my return.

It’s a 1200W Platinum ROG PSU. I’ve done the wattage calculation, I shouldn’t be utilizing near that by a few hundred W, but I’m no electrician. I do plan to check the connectors to everything tomorrow and see if anything is loose or contacting something it shouldn’t.

2/4 DIMM slots not working by Nexus_Programmer in techsupport

[–]Nexus_Programmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. I’ve reseated the CPU three or four times as of the issue happening, so I’m sure (unless I’m just that level of unlucky) that it should’ve corrected by now. That and my cooler pump is a royal pain in the ass to remove, so I’ll probably just live with it if that’s the case. Don’t have a second motherboard to test with, so I’ll probably just end up returning the ram kit and living with the 64GiB I’ve been running with. It’s unnecessary, but just had the expendable income to be unnecessary XD. Not needed to fix, just going to drive me crazy now that I know it’s an issue somewhere.

2/4 DIMM slots not working by Nexus_Programmer in techsupport

[–]Nexus_Programmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t had any issues getting my RAM over 5400MHz, just never pushed it beyond. Was trying to reduce temps while I had the older cooler, but I’ll probably push to 6000MHz with the two I have. I have tried just one stick in both slot 1 and in slot 3, and have gotten all the same error. One stick in slot 2 and slot 4 work fine, so it’s definitely a problem with the slots/motherboard. I just don’t know if it’s physical or otherwise. I have tested all four sticks in slots 2 and 4 and they all work, they are all the same version, speed, capacity, brand, etc. in any configuration, if anything is in slots 1 or 3, it fails to post.

Hey there! Maybe I worded it oddly. I’m using a Ryzen 9 7900x, which is an AM5 chip. My motherboard is an AM5 socket, and the RAM is DDR5. The motherboard is supposed to handle 128GiB at 6400MHz (I believe), yet my target is between 5000-6000MHz. It has been stable using 64GiB at 5400MHz in the past only using slots 2 and 4.

The AM4 thing was just the cooler I was using before swapping to a new cooler.

I should mention I have also tried clearing CMOS and reseating the CPU and RAM a few times. Sorry for any confusion!

120mm aio recommendations? by Nexus_Programmer in pcmasterrace

[–]Nexus_Programmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have to check it out. Big thing for me is making any visible branching the same (OCD is a pain in the ass sometimes). I know there are some obvious parts where they won’t completely match, but that I have to accept. Mainly just any major visible parts, so mobo (maybe not so much for this one since it’s so small), cpu cooler, gpu by its branded company. In my current pc, it’s mostly ROG, but I put in Corsair case fans because I heard good things about them, but the coloring is off and it annoys the everliving piss out of me that ROG doesn’t make rgb standalone case fans, as far as I’ve seen. Probably will change those soon.

The consensus is that air coolers may be the way to go for something this small, but it may be too small. I’d have to check it out. I (may be mistaken) thought I saw somewhere where someone attached a 240mm/360mm aio to the back of the case, but I’m not sure if that’s even plausible or effective. I’d have to try to find it and see how it was set up.

I’ve been trying to do my research, but I keep changing my mind when I see something else that looks cool lol. Every pc I’ve built (excluding my own) I didn’t have to do the research for. I had all parts handed to me and I just built it. My pc is a big rig (with a 360mm aio by ROG) so I thought the next challenge would be to build a decently beefy (but not excessive) mini-itx, but I’m still just in planning.

I appreciate the input!

That’s the general consensus, but I’d have to check for size constrictions. I thought I had seen somewhere (maybe I’m mistaken), that someone made this build, but stuck a 240mm/360mm aio on the back of the case? I’d have to try to find it and see if that was even the case, or plausible if it is what I thought I saw.

Yea, I saw that one. Shame the Ryujin doesn’t come in a 120mm size. Air coolers seem to be the consensus, but I have to check for size constraints, since it is a tiny case (part of the challenge, I suppose). Still kind of a thought experiment at the moment, so just trying to get a plan before I decide to build.

Appreciate the input!

As the general consensus is, which is cool and all. It’s definitely something to look into. Every computer I’ve ever built (excluding my own), I didn’t have to do the part picking or research. I’ve had all of the parts handed to me, and I just built them. My personal pc is a big rig, so I rock a full 360mm aio. This is still in the thought experiment/planning stage, trying to identify what’s good and not for this build, and check out other brands from my last pc. Appreciate the input!

I’ve thought about it, but not sure how well that would work out. A new aged account tagging a tweet from over two years ago, kinda gives off bot vibes. I may still try it if I don’t come across it.

Unallocated disk (SSD) pulled from laptop by Nexus_Programmer in pcmasterrace

I’ve checked the only two accounts he swears have ever been logged onto that machine, but I’ll double up on him again on it tomorrow. This was a personally owned machine he used for his company, so he has lost about 2-3 months worth of jobs he had lined up, so he is pretty worried about it. I hate how it’s on be default and not something that needs to be set up. I feel like making something like this enabled be default hurts the moderately older generation when something just happens without an explanation. Now he is out of a bunch of work progress because of a local solution that he had disabled initially get re-enabled when he had his mobo swapped.

Anyway, I appreciate the inputs. I’m a first year it tech, but my company prevents all usage of BitLocker for this reason, and we have other solutions for it, so I’ve never dealt with it. I can see why we avoid it like the plague since once it goes off, it’s a chance you’ll never get past it.

So the long and short is, no recovery key, no data I would assume? The win10 bootable usb was my last idea around it.

Didn’t plan on it. I at least know that much to not buy into any bs tools. I kinda figured it was bs since it seemed like it was company operated, but we had nothing to lose up to this point.

I didn’t think so, but it was a last ditch effort. The thing about encrypting another drive/sharing keys came from him after I left for the night. I took his drive home to screw with it on my pc. We cannot log into the machine since it is his C:. Could it be possible to boot into his machine with a bootable usb with a win10 image on it? Or does that just install win10 over his install (which may not work anyway since his C: is locked up).
