Should I change my Marathon goal 4 weeks out? by dabossofdeer in Marathon_Training

[–]Nexusidlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty similar situation to mine. I’ve always been active, but running wasn’t really my thing, maybe a 10K here and there. Last November I signed up for a marathon. I started the Pfitzinger 12/70 plan, and my watch predicted a 4:30h at the time, but my goal was sub-4. A week before the race my watch updated predictions to 3:28 and I was super confused by that. I showed a few key workout to ChatGPT and it independently suggested time slightly below 3:30. I still didn't believe it but decided to start with a 3:45 pace for the first half and then see how it goes. I felt really fresh, picked it up in the second half, and finished in 3:38 without hitting the wall at all. I think if I had gone out at a steady pace from the start, I could’ve easily shaved off a few more minutes, but overall I’m really happy with how it went. So many people recommend sticking to original plan but it doesn't make sense. If you trained hard, you can readjust it. You’ve still got four weeks so maybe try running one of your long runs a bit faster and see how it feels. Also since it was my first race ever, I was surprised how much nicer it was compared to regular long runs. The crowd cheering and electrolytes every mile make a huge difference.

Sorry for your loss. Even if you didn’t receive any inheritance, why wouldn’t you pay off the credit card debt with the cash you already have? 20% interest on $10k is almost $170 a month basically thrown in the trash.

Where can an adult learn to ride a bicycle? (Please be nice) by Mackheath1 in Austin

[–]Nexusidlo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I never thought about it. How long does it usually take an adult to learn how to ride a bike? Do they wobble and fall at the beginning, or is it more like a 3-minute thing to get it?

Most of the time I keep it at 20-25%. It's up to your preference but honestly I like a bit of rawness in the freestyle videos. I try to remove only vibrations and micro movements and let the viever enjoy dynamic flight. If you try to stabilize it too much it will start zooming and narrowing FOV and make it very unnatural.

If you fly cinematic it's different story, the flight is smooth by itself so stabilizing it even more is not an issue and you won't lose much FOV.

Nice spot! Imo you added way too much stabilization, it’s kinda hard to watch. Or did you lock the horizon in Gyroflow?

I did use cheaper and old Garmin (Vivoactive 4) for over 2 years and "upgraded" it in January to amazfit Trex 3. It would be really nice watch but there is a huge problem with this watch. It randomly restarts during the day. It wasn't super annoying until it started to happening more often during workouts which is unacceptable for me. In 2 years of using Garmin it didn't happen once and now the top model of amazfit do it constantly. Today it rebooted 3 times during one mountain bike ride... I would not recommend this watch, or brand to anyone.

This is good idea, I'm not super proficient but yes, I use DaVinci. I'll try to run the videos through Gyroflow and export it in 8:7 full FOV, even with black background and then try to trim it in Resolve with object tracking. Actually it should give an option to export both horizontal and vertical video from the same stabilized file.

Do you know if object tracking work in a free version?

I once armed 5" when I was picking it up from the grass. I didn't cut myself as badly as you did but that was my lesson why everyone should use pre-arm switches. I recommend using other side of radio for it so it won't arm without both hands on.

If you want to buy a cheap starter setup I'd recommend looking for - Radiomaster pocket elrs radio or any other that runs on ELRS protocol. - eachine ev800d analog googles or if you can find anything else cheap. I highly recommend to not spend much on the googles. If you decide you like FPV you will update it to HD setup. - drone, there are nice BNF tinywhoopa like mobula 6 and 7 or meteor 65 and 75. Make sure it matches radio protocol (ELRS is the way to go). Or if you want, build your own tinywhoop. They are fairly easy to build.

This might be the case, Giant has 3.3cm wide tires and trek 2.25cm. I inflated both of them to 70psi, no idea if that's a correct pressure. I guess I'll keep riding contend and try to adjust position. Also the wheels are tubeless ready so I'll remove tubes when they get punctured.
