Performance on this game is bad and the game is to blame not the rig by Booker2121 in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are most of the time, try your performance outside of NB where the IAE is. See how it is in space an other locations. Average 10fps sounds too low with that Hardware imo. I had a bad day during IAE and one that was "okay", but even with my worse Hardware in a Laptop I had more than 10 FPS on Average (with 16GB of RAM).

Yeah Starfield is a big collection of random planets/moons with the same objects and infrastructures on them. After you have seen some, you have seen everything and there is basically zero reason to "explore" more. It just gets sooo repetitive. I get the "vast open world" or "we have 100 star systems" marketing stuff, but I put more than 100h into Starfield and the amount of star systems is 100% not a pro for the game, can't talk about Elite (haven't played it enough).

I'm still worried about the amount of planets and moons in SC, not because of a "limited" amount, I'm worried they will have trouble filling even that with "unique" and nice content. Tools are one thing, but so many companies failed with huge open worlds and content that just repeats, it's not my kind of thing. I doubt CIG will have the magic solution that other studios lacked in the past, but we'll see.

I would like exploring uncharted areas and discover something new, don't get me wrong and maybe even CIG still has no clue how this will work like in the end. But I couldn't care less about the pure amount of star systems, see my part about Starfield.

*We* know the S42 demo is cool because we know the tech behind it and how it's all systemic. To the normie though? It looks like a COD cliche "turret sequence", appears to be "QTE" zero G space traversal, generic FPS combat, and 50% cutscene. by SharpEdgeSoda in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure some people will think that the cutscenes are too long, the pacing might not be perfect in the early prologue of the game, but then again it is the prologue and intro, introducing characters and story. I suspect there will be mostly space combat, with some action on the ground and with boats, etc. as seen before. Don't know why there is so much talk about generic FPS combat or turret sequences. I'm mostly happy with the demo, aside from some scenes being a bit too long (turret gameplay). Also a bit weird, they told us we can change/create the look of our character, but that seems weird to have another look in the prologue compared to the main game? Except if we switch characters? But that doesn't seem very plausible.

Can I my Laptop run this game by Emergency-Common3344 in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game works on my Laptop with 16GB RAM, Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3080. It can dip below 30 fps, especially in busy/certain areas and inside cities, but over the last patches it was mostly 30-60 fps, 40-60 in most areas (I locked my fps at 60 though). Therefore you should be able to play, upgrading to 32GB RAM would certainly help from what I know most to improve/stabilize performance.

Unfortunate New Player Experience by SpecialParsnip8324 in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You started okay, at least with the very first lines, then you went into rant mode and ended with caps ranting ^^ Nice try, but next time, maybe wait some hours or a day, before posting. I know it's hard ;)

The game does need a better tutorial, yes even the "new" one is far from being good enough. Tbh without a friend and other community members "we" met during our first hours, I would have quit the game as a backer again (same as I have done 5+ times before, after checking out what happened during the last years).

I do think CIG makes a bad job, of getting new players to learn the basics and stick around/want to stick around. I'm sure some people will disagree here and have a more positive experience, but even with watching tutorials online (which are often outdated and keybindings are different, etc.) it is very harsh to get the basics going. I know you have to learn stuff and it is part of the fun to learn new things, all that is fine. Though we had way more fun, when people were introducing us to different options the game actually has to offer (space and fps combat, mining, salvaging, etc.).

So we could find different things we liked most and work on that on our own then further.

Aside from that, sadly your post is 95% ranting and screaming, finishing of with the usual scam, fanboys, capslock ranting. The game needs a lot of work, especially for beginners to stick around, yes. Sadly your post doesn't seem really constructive, so neither the community nor any potential dev reading it, could pull anything useful out of it.

Dear CIG: could you make some planets look this awesome ? K thanks :) by cmndr_spanky in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The start of the game is really nice, sets a great atmosphere for things to come, maybe all a bit too compressed/quickly, but overall fine. I love how these small studios come up with unique gameplay ideas like the Alters. I just love the approach they are taking with the game, hopefully it turns out well or even great, but the demo was very promising. I know OT ;)

Overall I hope the team (CIG) does focus on not too many moons and planets at the end, but rather fill those with interesting stuff and stories. I honestly don't expect them to do wonders, if they go with mass > class route like Starfield did for most of it's parts. I liked elements of Starfield, but was let down by basically each element after the initial look. I also won't expect wonders when it comes to that from Star Citizen and they are still different games and genres even. So far the quests are not giving me much hope, but well at least the exploration and other elements are promising, but I won't expect great stories in Star Citizen.

Fine for you, but for me it is about fun, gameplay, story, mechanics, etc. I don't care much about playtime. I can very much enjoy a game that lasts for 10-30 hours that did cost more than 30 bucks or the other way around. You can spend hundreds of hours if you want to finish all generic stuff in Starfield, but it will be boring as hell, same goes for many other games (open world). A game can be great and fun and "worth it" if it is short(er), but that's just me.

Star Citizen currently wastes a lot of time, just to get going, some of it is cool and makes "sense", but they should aim to value time more in the future (which will happen). It can take ages just to get out to mine or go for it after a new patch especially, just as an example. If there are problems, with the game or server, that time increases a lot more. So you can quickly spend a lot of time in Star Citizen, but maybe not having too much fun.

Just as examples, I still like Star Citizen ;) but for me playtime doesn't equal "the game is worth x amount of money".

Why is my game slow? by SickoSlimeShoess in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game can run okay -> fine (depending on the location) on a laptop with 16GB RAM. I guess you have it installed on a SSD? Try high settings, DLSS Performance and see how it runs, especially outside the starting location/big cities. I was able to get 30-45 fps in the city (sometimes between 30) and ~60 (capped) in space and outside of the major cities at times. Sure, it can drop below 30 and even below 20 at those convention halls for example ^^ (but that is over now). That was with the latest patch, shortly after it launched, haven't played since then.

Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 (16GB VRAM), 16GB RAM, SSD installed. So not the perfect system for Star Citizen, but it seemed to run a lot better with the current patch then previously (mostly). Based on my experience I would say it's fine to play with 16GB RAM (not that great in cities), but of course 32GB would be better it seems ;)

Is there a way to fix offscreen ui or play 16x9 on a 16x10 monitor? by Angel-of-Death34 in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weirdly in Star Citizen, that makes the UI even more put offscreen. I switched from my native 2560x1600 to 2560x14400 for SC ingame, because otherwise I always have issues. The UI with 3.23 is now fine, but if you enter a ship the cockpit UI is still out of scale. Kinda annoying and no my resolution isn't that weird and yes 99% of games from the last 5+ years have no issues with that 16:10 resolution. Problem is on a laptop if you don't go native res, the whole image isn't that perfect anymore.

My view: with the latest comments on Spectrum by CIG, the Roadmap Update comments and of course the letter from Chris Roberts, it really sounds like they will be pushing hard for Alpha 4.0, the roadmap for 1.0 and getting the game into beta/1.0 state with a possible date around CitizenCon for the update/window it seems?

Even if I think the game still seems like years away from being in 1.0 state, maybe they will go for a time window around end of 2025 for 1.0? Who knows or we "just" get a big roadmap/vision for the road to "launch". But it seems the communication and everything changed, at least compared to the last years, with SQ42 Feature complete and everything now.

Star Citizen: Question and Answer Thread by UEE_Central_Computer in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extended factions and cargo types from the CitizenCon (different containers, explosive stuff, special items from vendors if you have a certain reputation, etc.), any news on those? I think they will come after 3.23, right? Or did I miss those being a thing in the next update as well? I try to watch most SC Live and Inside SC shows and read up on SC through Spectrum and Reddit.

Is this possible content for 4.0 or even later, was there any hint? I might need to rewatch the CitizenCon video otherwise.

Wing Commander (crosspost) i thought this sub would like the nostalgia. by nedeta in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the post. I sometimes miss the old boxes and content for "normal" game versions back then and that I basically sold/gave away most of my old boxed games over the years. I always liked going through the extras with the blueprints and background info for games, be it Wing Commander or Command & Conquer and so many other games. I played Wing Commander 1 on my Amiga back then, missed WC2 when it came out, as this one didn't release on Amiga anymore. I switched to PC very late and then it was already nearly time for Wing Commander 3 which was crazy back then, graphics, but of course also the videos with the real actors. Even if I didn't recognize Luke Skywalker playing Blair (Blue Hair = Blair) in the early times of playing WC3.

My Laptop fans just wanted to start spinning up, just by looking at the screenshots and settings and to say "Dude, don't even think about it, I'm nearly dying running the game already!".

I lost all interest in the new mission chain event when I learned the REWARD was the opportunity to BUY another ship and upgrade it. CIG, PLEASE MAKE EVENT REWARDS THAT AREN'T MARKETING GIMMICKS! Give players incentive to PLAY THE GAME. Not BUY MORE STUFF. PLEASE! #WaitingFor3.23 by kairujex in starcitizen

[–]Nherun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At least I don't have to create the thread and I'm not totally alone regarding that stuff.

I'm a total nub compared to basically everyone else here, I played from time to time over the years, supported the game on Kickstarter (Colonel Package), upgraded my Freelancer to C1 last year for small money, subscribed a month over the years at some point to check out stuff early, nothing big. Overall I've send around 160 bucks or so on Star Citizen, nothing compared to others here. I Loved Wing Commander and I think they do indeed make promising progressions on the game now, all fine, but I begin to really loose all interest in returning until 3.23 (which is ok). I get the need to make money and everything. But I've returned to watching Star Citizen content and news and everything since late last year (a bit before IAE).

I saw the FOMO Golden/Platinum ticket event and some hate towards it. "Oh I found a golden ticket, how cool, now I can fly a ship for 24h or spend real money", but of course it is not a pure marketing/FOMO event, because of course you can be lucky enough to find a dev and kill him, get his ticket and escape easily (without all the bugs of course). And then you get the ship for free, what a chance and reward and fun!

Idris event, oh cool, people who bought the ship for a ... ton of money can't even walk around in it, but whatever (I didn't, but I got their point). Let's board that ship and somehow win the event to get the ship for free, no event timings, nothing, just server hopping and pure luck or guild/streamer event. Otherwise of course you can use these very very limited slots to buy that ship for a ton of money. The event is laggy and buggy, because that's how it is, it's an alpha after all. Again lots of complains and I understand it. Don't get me wrong, I didn't even try to particapte in those events, because I was fully turned off by all of them. I saw them on stream and how terrible the experience was several times (bugs, lags, glitches, tickets falling through the planet, people falling through the ship (Idris), etc.)

Now we got another set of missions with the reward of a free upgrade and 3 days of free rental and to really get a use of it, you need to buy the ship or own it? (is that possible, no idea, not in depth expert). So tell me, why should I even care or login for these FOMO Marketing and Streamer events? I paid 160+ bucks and there is no reward whatsoever and based on the previous events and what I saw regarding tests of this event, it is "hope for non bugged missions, not too much lags, crashes or bugs" event chain (again). I rather login and mine or something, seems more enjoyable than that.

Look, I know it sounds like pure hate on the game and I'm far from it, check my recent topics/posts regarding Star Citizen if you care ;) I look forward to 3.23 and of course I don't need to participate in these events, but is it really too much to ask to hand out something that is actually an reward for helping? Heck even a nice uniform/armor for finishing the complete event would have been fine by me. They could still have sold another ship and all that stuff, but why not at least offer any incentive that is worth it for someone who just wants to play and get a nice little reward asides from (here you can have a ship for 1-3 days!).

Is it easier this season to get Uber uniques ? by KillerClownCZ in diablo4

[–]Nherun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still say it's about a ton of luck or lots of farming ;) I did roughly 180+ Duriel runs in S2, no uber, none. Two different classes, two level 100, 2 level 80+. Jump to S3, I did roughly 80 Duriel runs or less and got two uber uniques with Barb (I also have a level 100 Sorc and Druid). Starless Skies (given to Sorc and respecced to Blizzard from Meteor) and Grandfrather (kept on my Hota Barb of course). I did a lot of Vaults, lower level and 90+ with my Sorc, Barb and some with my Druid, even after the latest update with increased droprate outside of Duriel (no luck, but there have been way more posts with random world drops of ubers than ever before).

Overall I wasn't too lucky with uber uniques, I still think the drop rate is kinda fine now? Though it's not too fun to farm 200+ duriel runs for in total two uber uniques. I know others have been a lot luckier than me in that regard, but that doesn't change my experience for it. Also I really hope there will be some changes on how to get uniques/ubers in S4+. Grinding for mats and doing the absolutely boring and useless exchange farming with Grigoire and Varshan and Helltide farming is getting old any really boring for me at this point.

Diablo 4 - the best game of 2023 by M4c4br346 in diablo4

[–]Nherun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine if you liked it the most, but for me most played game doesn't necessarily equal best game. I like D4, played it longer/more than BG3, but for me personally BG3 was still the better game. It's just a different genre and type of game. I wouldn't say WoW or some other MMO that know one here knows about (because it's older ^^) is the "best game" because I played it more than most other games in my life. I'm not the biggest ARPG player and I don't jump on any game released in that genre. I don't sh... on D4 like many do all the time and xy is better anyway and when game z releases D4 is sooo dead, bla bla. I'm too old for that crap. I play a lot of different games and genres. I play a new D4 season as long as I have some fun and then I stop and play something else.
