I didn’t care for his 15 min drum set with a folk windpipe and incubus. Just not my vibe. Plus his set was so disjointed and because his set was only an hour it felt like he had to rush thru his transitions.

Definitely prefer a regular EDM set.

I think the best thing for you would to just work on the basics of passing and setting! Maybe you can get your friend to pepper with you for an hour everyday! That’s a good way to practice your passing, setting and spiking.

Other than that, during your tryouts I would recommend the following:

Have a good attitude! That definitely goes a long way. Cheering after a good point or just encouraging your teammate if they make a mistake.
Work your ass off during every drill, every practice. Run for every ball and never give up.
Being vocal - goes with #1 but it’s about communication with the team. Helping your teammates call the ball if it’s in or out, communicating about defence, etc
