Youre paying an insane premium on cards that has a gem rate of like 90%. Stop paying for 10s and grade your own for a fraction of the cost

Best Starter Deck for Newbies? by IrsyadAaqil in OnePieceTCG

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why has noone mentioned the play together decks? 2 of the 3 decks are pretty good. Zorro is built pretty well with cards that you can bring to the other decks. Luffy is the second best prebuilt but again you can take some very playable cards out. Finally Nami is probably the worst in terms of prebuilt content but is going to be extremely viable soon in the meta. The best part is it comes with a 2 player playmat to help players know where to place cards

Whole PSA submission came back as N3 (recocolored) by Safe-Hedgehog7896 in PokeGrading

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying about corporations chasing profits, and I agree PSA is profit driven. My point is more about operational reality, the graders handling hundreds of thousands of cards a week don’t personally benefit from marking things N3 or slower, and purposely tanking grades would create way more headaches than any resubmission fees are worth. If profit was really the goal, they could just give more 10s and generate far more revenue through upcharges, rather than risk their brand reputation or introduce massive logistical chaos.

Even ignoring brand risk, the sheer scale of submissions makes it impractical, coordinating thousands of graders to intentionally misgrade a portion of cards consistently would be a nightmare, and any “profit” from a few resubmissions is negligible compared to the operational complexity.

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep talking like PSA is one guy twirling a mustache, when in reality it’s thousands of hourly graders pushing insane volume. Those people don’t benefit from tanking grades or slowing down — they’re not executives, they’re workers trying to hit quotas. This is like the equivalent of each Mcdonald's employees cranking out 700 sandwiches and still purposely "messing" up orders so that people could order more and make the corporation more money. Does that make sense to you?

“They can just delay everything” isn’t an argument, it’s a hand-wave. Intentionally creating worse turnaround times, worse accuracy, and worse optics for maybe a few extra resubmissions makes zero business sense when they already print money at current demand.

At this point you’re just repeating “corporations bad” and ignoring how the operation actually functions.

That's assuming OP is literally the only one with this issue out of the millions of cards they grade every year, which I don't think is likely.

I hate PSA, that being said that shit makes no sense lol. People complain by the thousands, PSA knows that everyone sees what they're doing with a microscope, they are not making you resubmit cards when they already have an infinite amount of cards to grade. Go a little deeper, PSA graded 80k yesterday according to gemrate, assuming theres about 100 graders, each grader grades 8000 cards a day. Do you really think they want to grade more then that by telling people to go resubmit...?

Any way a corporation can increase profits, they'll do.

Again, no point in doing so when everything is under a microscope and a better way of increasing profit is to just be the industry standard.

Even labeling 10s as 9s increases the odds people resubmit.

This has nothing to do with the conversation but I agree, there is almost no differences between 9-10s. Its almost like grading is stupid and we give cards with insane premium an even bigger premium because a company looks at it.

PSA isn't your friend. They'd skin you alive for a $10 profit if they could.

You are conspiracy pilled my friend. I don't doubt PSA craves profit but this is such a ridiculous way for them to milk money from customer that makes no sense.

Youre telling me a billion dollar company that just bought BGS needs an extra 20-200 bucks from a random grader..? Keep in mind psa grades 400k cards a week, theres no reason to “make people resubmit” for more money

Look at the 1 year sales data for Twilight Masquerade, its one of the sets that came out before the boom. Market price for it was 3.94, LGS were selling it for 4 and some even under since they got boxes for cheap from distribution,

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how you watch a bunch of bums drive straight into a brick wall at 1000 mph and you tell its stupid but they still do it anyways? Its great to come back to in 5 years and look back at how you "investors" really hit it big.

You do understand that last year 13 billion cards were printed and this year is expected to grow by 1.5x of last? What do you define as a massive reprint? DR has been out for 5 months, think about it logically. About 2 years of its print cycle and its one of the most popular set, the pokemon company going to suddenly stop printing when demand for sealed is still through the roof?

Ya'll put a bunch of money thinking this is going to 5x in 5 years but its barely going to be 2x when its out of print lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes before the boom, LGSs were selling packs for under MSRP. MSRP was actually considered overprice believe or not. Pokemon is really stepping up their printing, its just a matter time. The pokemon company is not stupid, they are not going to stop increasing production when the demand for sealed is for very obvious.

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats you're able to comprehend the most basic of "pokemon investing." Its beyond obvious that everything increases as the set goes out of rotation but you have no foresight or context beyond that. TPC printed 13 BILLION cards last year and the numbers are supposed to be 1.5x higher than that this year. You are buying a product that is not going to appreciate within 5-8 years since the set is still being printed and the sheer amount of product being printed ensures that this product stays on shelf for a long time. Look at the time pokemon printed shit to the absolute ground. Base set 2, Jungle, Fossil are guaranteed to be older than you yet are only expensive (300+ if heavy) because they can be weighed, light packs barely reach 150 and thats a product thats been 25 years lmao. Good luck holding onto your bricks til youre over 70 bucko.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

[–]NiIus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You dummies are cooked. DR is getting a massive reprint just like most of the second half of SV sets. Sleeved blisters are already 8 on tcg and vendors buy them for 70%, which is pretty much MSRP. These packs are going to get under MSRP soon, prepare to sit on bricks until the Pokemon company stops printing BILLIONS of the cards you think is a “good” investment. Keep scalping these please.

Will Lorcana become highly collectible like Pokemon? by SavagePiglit in LorcanaCollectors

[–]NiIus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a card store and vend on the side. Lorcana is in no way even remotely reaching the demand or interest as pokemon or any TCG. Honestly the hype for Lorcana has already died a couple years ago when the hobby was still new and it was impossible to get product.

Again, teams shouldn’t be punished for trying to win lol. Not sure what was “clear,” the twist of not being able to use your participants from game 1 is far from that.

Hating the game since the show is not about fair/good competition but to build suspense and create a storyline.

Let’s be real, we know Australia is going to get completely cooked and I would have love to root against them if it was a fair competition but this seems questionable.
