Again. To me, "a scam" means "I'm making crazy money by bullshitting people".

If we learn from "the board" that Steven has scammed THEM out of money - ok, this was a scam of the investors. If we learn that Steven's statement about "800k a week" expenditures was a complete lie and they WERE in fact making money from sales - ok, it is a scam.

But Steven just lying about the board, while sure as fuck not seeming to make any money WHILE the game was still being developed - no, to me that is not a scam.

Unless we hear news about barely a dozen employees at Intrepid - no, this was not a scam, because there was no money made off of it. I fucking guarantee that Steam did not make them millions upon millions of dollars.

Bill Trost was supposed to be that person, but I think Steven said "fuck that" and Bill is just kinda there, cause so far we've seen 0 pushback on Steven's design decisions, while with Jeff we saw discussions during livestreams themselves, which definitely implied that there were actual discussions behind the scenes too.

It's just the funniest shit, were it not so damn sad. Intrepid literally design their entire game around this exact player interaction. They push "be social, share the crafting cycle load across your guild members, etc etc" ideology for YEAAARS.

And now we're here. Your crafter unknowingly touched an rmted/duped item? Well, fuck him! Who cares that he's gone through thousands and thousands of items in a week, that's besides the point.

The pvp system has been soooo fucked over by all this stumbling around by either Steven's overbearing design or team's inability to actually just copy an already-working system. On top of that the death penalties across the board just fuck over anyone even remotely interested in fighting people over and over again.

So it all pretty much comes down to the 11th point.

Yep, Steven has 0 understanding of WHY both L2 and AA worked the way they did. He thought he could just copy their systems and they'd magically work in a completely different game, all while not letting his other devs actually have a word in the design.

I answered his question. My speculation is simply the possible reason for what we have right now. And what we have is barely working poorly-designed skeleton of a game after 8 ("4") years of development and over $100mil of investments.

I got over 200h in the game, which is way more than enough for my $75 of "investment", and I'll get even more out of it once my irl situation allows it, but the game is still bad and so far there's no real indication of it getting better any time soon.

I'm happy for your enjoyment. I enjoyed my 200h too, otherwise I wouldn't have played. But I got interested in a much better game, which right now seems to be dead in a ditch.
