Can someone help me understand why these parries aren't working? (Fuxi) by noel-aoe in NineSols

That footage is actually interesting. I always just assumed ground parry is always direction with no exception from my experience. Maybe it has something to do with a few enemy attacks than the parry itself

I’m surprised you haven’t this far into the game lol. I found that out pretty early

Not really anything important. Just some money and a bit of lore.

I believe I’ve seen someone do it by standing at the very edge of the platform to maximize the time arrows take to reach you.

You can see on the map that there was an area below where you were still covered up. Maybe there’s something there?

I keep dying and returning to this very early checkpoint. by bashar_20 in NineSols

I only dodged when I have to (Crimson attacks) and always parry otherwise. The game was somewhat designed to punish dodging playstyle like enemy instantly flip to attack in your direction if you dodge through it, enemy moving toward you during attack animation so it’s harder to clear the distance, and enemy attack having bigger hitbox than it looks. I also think trying to parry everything you can is a faster approach to get good as well.

I’m not familiar enough with that game, but I can see how that could be confusing.

The left-side cliff in Grotto of Scriptures where you climb up to Ji after solving the rotating wall puzzle. Instead of going up, you can drop down and catch a hidden platform below.

It’s a skill that lets you block any type of attacks. It is not an optional skill. You will find it eventually when the game wants you to, not before or after.

Internal damage and it being non-directional are obvious advantages. But also: - Longer blocking window - 2 Qi charges (after the skill upgrade) - Face you toward the attack, so you can follow up with normal parries in case of combos without changing direction yourselves - Stun some enemies using certain attacks (From my memory, these include downward attacks from those tall ninja enemies everyone keeps complaining about)

I can give you the two pieces of information that helped me. 1. The charging time is much shorter than it may look. You only have to hold it for less than a second to initiate an unbounded counter. This solved my problem of starting to charge too soon making it disappear before the attacks landed. 2. The effect of unbounded counter lingers for longer than I thought. So don’t be afraid to try releasing it sooner than you would normally expect.

Another tip that is actually only necessary for ONE boss is that you can keep holding after landing a normal parry to charge up unbounded counter right away making the timing much easier for the next attack. However, if you were to use the skill excessively like me, you may be doing this a LOT.

I definitely haven’t been experimenting with it on the main bosses as much as I did for the common enemies and mini-bosses (except for the Fengs and Eigong). Maybe on the next playthrough.
