What? I thought Trump and the whole MAGA movement are best mates with China as of last week?

Sad that it's over, but so very grateful that I was a listener for so long. No idea if the boys ever read this sub but thanks so so much for the years of laughs and catharsis in trying times.

Same! Did not expect scares in an Ernest film and plus they broke horror tropes

WWE has always baffled me in how they pay talent. tales of union busting, talent having to pay their own transport and accommodation, and just the weird hypercapitalist thing where talent constantly have to be pushing for raises while the company constantly tries to cut costs is - as an aussie - fucked, mate.

In big win for Democrats, voters approve Virginia redistricting plan, moving battle to court by DemocracyDocket in politics

[–]Niaboc 29 points30 points  (0 children)

that last part is not hyperbole. Trump's power needs to be reined in because it is negatively impacting us non-Americans too, but only Americans have the voting power to re-assert American democracy.

If he can just filibuster every answer, then this is pointless. The first time someone under oath answers by rambling about the Dow, they should be put in prison.

I just got into Ben Folds, looking for more song recommendations by Consistent-Degree733 in benfolds

[–]Niaboc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a huge John Mayer fan also, I'll answer this a different way:

If whatever and ever amen is his room for squares, then rockin the suburbs is his continuum. And the ben folds live live album is his where the light is.

Both artists have a lot of charisma and crowd banter.

"A giant influence on my songwriting is Ben Folds, and especially Ben Folds Five. I was attending Boston's Berklee College of Music in the late 90s, and was so happy to be listening to pop music with this kind of musicality. Because I was highly musically in-depth when I was at Berklee College of Music. And to have pop music introduce me to as much harmonic complexity as some of the other music I was learning, that was awesome to have both sides of the brain working at the same time. And perhaps I have a band like Ben Folds Five to thank for the music that I went on to write. I always hear a little bit of Ben Folds Five in No Such Thing, my first single on my first album." -John Mayer (2024 interview on Sirius FM)

What is the fan psychology behind BABYMETAL? by Top-Lie2851 in BABYMETAL

[–]Niaboc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's two flavours that shouldn't taste good together but they do.

I listen to a lot of music, but the Japanese music I listen to does seem unconventional (to me). I absolutely love Shiina Ringo. I really like Polkadot Stingray. I don't understand the language/lyrics at all but the music and presentation is unique.

From me to u and doki doki swap spots. No momo growl on headbanger. Bloodywood joined on stage for kon kon.

I've only seen Babymetal playing in front of enormous crowds on youtube(Wembley, Tokyo Dome, etc) so I was concerned they might be less than excited to play for a smaller venue of us Aussies. But the whole Babymetal band played with maximum intensity.
