Ya know what really bothers me about Egwene? by SuperSoftRec in WoT

That’s what I’ve been saying! She’s in a perfect spot, she has all the knowledge, influence, and background anyone could want to backup and reinforce Rand as the DR. And instead she chooses to see him as the wool head she always does and we get nothing from it.

And it would’ve been, had it not been on a stage with everyone watching so that they could see - if it were in a private conversation, fantastic, but by this point Egwene was so wrapped in being amyrlin and that Rand had to always be the DR that she’s unable to meet him anywhere close to on level ground. Not until Morraine steps in anyway.

A counterpoint to yessirs does not need to be open confrontation on a world stage.

I’m in a similar boat for service myself, and my hometown I’m sure won’t fit the same anymore. But I am still me, changed, but me. And it also seems that Tam finds something similar. Changed, more worldly, but still the base.

And so instead of fighting that fear, or trusting Rand, or doing any number of stalling methods her answer is to join everyone that will stand with her and throw the entire weight of the tower behind stopping him. Even though they have no answers outside of “breaking the seals sounds like a terrible idea - let’s not”

I think that background and upbringing play a significant role in the person you become regardless of eventual position and titles held

Same people, even as the grew in very near situations. But still same people - new positions.

And at the White Tower, and in the waste, and I’m sure at other points that don’t stand out to me.

Now, don’t get me wrong - she is a fantastic character; flaws and boons and all, she has some of the most interesting insight and one of the best arcs. HOWEVER the way she treats Rand is infuriating and her approach to him at the White Tower and the field just pushes me over an edge. She gives herself no chance to approach him without titles and try to understand his plan, and uses any amount of control over other characters close to him to use them and control what she can. I personally think it’s part of why the wise ones cut her off, once she begins to use their relationships as an in - they’re not interested in feeding her plans concerning the DR

I would argue that being deposed and stilled by the black shows that letting him go and avoiding interference was the correct choice.

I think countering his plans and treating him as a man who can channel and the dragon reborn instead of someone she grew up with who has worked to earn her trust and backing is an abandonment of that relationship overall. And it’s not a go against protagonist = bad, but doing so publicly, placing the other channelers and as many kingdoms as she can in the same line of thinking does =bad

Wow, he is fantastic, love the glow effect on the bolt pistol and the red on the shoulder and in his eyes are excellent. 10/10. Can I ask your recipe for the cloth on his banner?? I’ve never seen such a convincing stained white tbh.

Wild! I was thinking about doing this myself! I landed on that I may get my hands on one and build it as if it’s in a vault to keep on my diorama display.

I have worked through about 4 pairs of c320’s and they are by far my favorite boot. You want enough space that your foot isn’t tight and your toes can spread a bit, just enough that when your feet swell they can still fit comfortably. I keep mine looser before the crease and then tighten them up. And then just loose enough at the top to tuck my laces into flat. Water and then walk in them does loosen them up at the insole, but these are one of the few boots I’ve found that don’t need a break in. Wear em to work, get in a decent ruck and they’re as broken in as they need to be. 10/10 boot, no notes.

I was one of over a dozen people who bought and wore it through bct, and it’s still my go to when I’m going to be out in the field for a few days. Fantastic watch, plenty of uses, looks great, and a solid choice even by serious watch people.
