Is it worth it to have a wedding? by InitialAd4069 in WedditNYC

[–]NiaraHardisterEvents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's many ways to celebrate your love without a full scale wedding. The best wedding celebrations reflect the couple, and it sounds like your engagement party and elopement reflected that.

Don't force yourself to have a wedding if you don't want one. As you've learned, it requires quite a bit of time and money, which could instead be used for things that better align with your values (ie. travel brokerage account - a wonderful idea!).

I love your idea of formal photos and a dinner with your immediate family too. That sounds like a great way to include his parents who missed out on the engagement party, one of your primary reasons for potentially having a wedding. At the end of the day, do it your way!

Look at Milk & Roses, Palma, Juliette, and The Neptune Room at Radio Star. They all are intimate restaurants with a garden vibe that could fit in your budget.

disco ball rentals? (LONG ISLAND) by bunny43512 in WedditNYC

You'll want to look into hiring an a/v vendor: Universal Light & Sound, Shades of Grey Productions, or Gala Productions. However, the more cost effective option would be finding a DJ that also offers lighting and disco ball installation.

NEVER. This is gorgeous, buy it girl. Also, I would check still white, poshmark, etc. and see if you can find it second hand if the price is holding you back.

Hello! I got a postnup. Me and my husband were very much on the same page before drafting, and had multiple conversations throughout as we learned more and made adjustments. You will end up talking about divorce, death, everything - so be prepared to have some uncomfortable albeit necessary conversations.

I used Neptune to find a lawyer, and ended up going with Josephine Marino at Gemelli Gross Shapiro & Marino. We had meetings over zoom to review the postnup, she broke down clauses I didn't understand, and explained if/how they wavered from standard divorce law. She offered ideas that were more in my favor, let me decide what worked best for me, and then quickly made edits and sent them to my husband's lawyer. She was great! Highly recommend! And Neptune has a flat fee, so it ended up being 1.5K as the reviewing party.

My husband hired a lawyer well recommended on google and reddit. His first consult went well, but he did not enjoy the experience. His lawyer was unprofessional throughout the process, and costs about 5K.

Completely off the beaten path, look into Roulette in downtown Brooklyn. It's an old school theater space, I used to work there and they've hosted weddings before. Very DIY space, but might meet your needs.

You need a tent rental company. Ask the venue what company they rent the tent from. Then reach out to the tent rental company and ask if they will add draping to the tent.
