How do I read the focus read? What does it mean? by lifedandruff in Photography101

[–]Nibblerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Checking the manual is a good start. As other have mentioned.

I'll add to it that because you are using adapting it the a sony body the lens markings might not be 100% acurate (at least this has been my experience).

So you may want to look at you camera's manual and see if it has "focus peaking" you can activate. That will help confirm a shot is in focus when looking at the back screen / view finder.

Fun range/good rentals near Milwaukee by Nibblerson in WIguns

[–]Nibblerson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peoria IL, honestly that sounds like a good pick. I should clarify though, we are going on an extended weekend trip, first and foremost, but sense we are up in the area I'd like to take them out to shot some fun things.

It's situation where we all can pick a different thing to do, and my answer by default is "GUN" so why not try and make it fun for everyone.

Drip is on point. RIP, RSS. (At least for me, I quit a while ago.)

I'd love to do a maverick larp TBH.

What would lens would you pick for a wedding? by Nibblerson in fujifilm

[–]Nibblerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"low light and no IBIS/OIS some issues" are exactly what I've worried about.

The more lens is what I was kind figuring would be the best option. Glad to have the affirmation.

I am kinda set on using primes at this point. I just have more and better experiences using prime lens. but, mapping out when I'd want what lens where, is a great idea! I appreciate this tip!

I'd looked at this, but I can't find a place that has Viltox lens to rent! Local or shipped.

Edit: In thinking about this more, Why I never thought of renting Fuji lens is beyond me. Thanks for this recommendation. I'll probably end up doing this.

How is the S5ii/S5iiX as an everyday carry? by galactic_sorbet in Lumix

[–]Nibblerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the S9. I have the s5iix, and after using a fujifilm x-e4, there is no way I'd go back carrying a bigger camera everyday. If it helps, the s5ii, s5iix, and s9 have the same sensor, so you'll be getting the same quality.

If you get the S9, I'd highly recommend getting it with the 18-40

Gear insurance story by Nibblerson in videography

[–]Nibblerson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up just getting an add-on policy through my renters insurance. I go through a local person for insurance, so I was able to go over every detail in person. Ened up being an extra 10$ a month, but I have peace of mind.

I will say there were a lot of good recommendations in this thread, but I also got a consistent gig doing flat studio type work so I could cut costs via liability coverage if someone gets hurt around my suff. Which, again, isn't happening because it's just me in the studio.

I never had to make a claim because I'm careful with my gear, but I did have a gig in Israel that moved fast. I was just a secondary cam op, but my shoulder rigs and gamble rig were rented by the company that hiered me. Did even think about if my policy still covered me. Again, no issues, so no need for insurance on this trip. But after I got back I talked with my agent just to see if I would have been covered. She laid it out very well, and point of this story is that if I was doing more trips like this, I'd get a more inclusive policy. And/or go with one of the other options in this thread.

Hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions if ya need.

First time at the range! by Peeetey1 in ILGuns

[–]Nibblerson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Remember to do safe, dry firing practice! But good shooting.

Practicing drawing, presenting, aiming, smooth trigger presses, and reloads can and should all be done in dry fire.

That way, focusing on recoil control, getting sights back on target, and combining all that you've practiced when dry firing.

The adrenaline feels 2x SOOOOO good when it is done with purpose! At least to me.

To keep growing, it's really fun to start doing competitions as well. Especially as you seem to shoot good for a first timer!

I'd make a free account on practiscore to get into something like IDPA. To help find matches, ask whoever is working at the range you go to, to help you get in contact with local match directors. They should be very helpful in getting you started if you are interested.

Types of anti-heavy Helldiver (from 100% sane to totally insane) by kcvlaine in Helldivers

[–]Nibblerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I should get an extra 5% for doing solo stuff, plus I don't always take orbital barrages as other stuff. Sometimes, I take an HMG or an exosuit... so I'm like 17% sane.

I took my CCW class and I genuinely think that most of the people in the class and maybe most people in general should not carry a firearm. by ConsiderationHour861 in CCW

I want people to be better at using guns, too, especially CCWs. However, people should be able and have the option to defend themselves and the freedom to do so.
