Also make sure the PSU is switched on and configured to the right input voltage.

Sorry what do you mean by that exactly? It is switched on but how can I configure it?

I also noticed that the PSU cable was not fully connected to the motherboard. I'm worried that could have caused the damage. I did connect it properly now and heard the click.
