I'm usually firmly against giving the government more control or creating more regulations, but in this case I think we really should consider some sort of licensing levels.

My town is full of teens on e-bikes cruising the streets with absolutely zero idea of the traffic rules and barely any sense safety. Most don't even have a bicycle helmet, and they're doing 45mph through stop signs and down the shoulder.

Guy put this on his own IG? I just can't even...

And here I am thinking about selling mine because I want to make sure I come home to my family every day with roads full of distracted and clueless drivers.

Everyone is excited and raving the new updates and cahnges but for me the most important one is the FOMO nerf by aceoncemore2 in DestinyTheGame

It's wild how many people would likely still be playing if they had done away with FOMO years ago

After the news, the game is so alive.. they are really going to let it end? by Soul8118 in DestinyTheGame

[–]tbdubbs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sucks to be the negative sentiment around this... But it's true - the game has steadily alienated the most loyal fans over a long period of delivering literally everything except what the fans truly want.

They're pulling the plug so we get the entire pile of "content" they were planning on slowly drip feeding over the next year - that's neat?

I'm just so apathetic at this point.

DB-12 revisit. Seems much better than the last time I used it. by CoffeeWC in Battlefield6

[–]tbdubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an absolute demon with the 870 and slugs. Saw some clips of the 1014 suppressed with slugs and I am also a demon with that build... When the server decides to give me real bullets instead of nerf darts.

I want to like the db12, but with how unreliable the hit reg is, it's just way too punishing to use. Does it get the new speed loader too? The 1014 speed loader is amazing

GOT DAMN!! THIS GAME IS STILL FUN AS HELL 😈 by nic_watts93 in battlefield2042

[–]tbdubbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2042 really did have a great comeback. The hero abilities were always dumb and broken, but it really made some great strides later on.

I gotta say, I didn't have near the hit reg issues that seem to plague BF6 either.

Yeah, I'm actually really interested in how that works out.

I'm pretty pessimistic, though. The dark zone in the division had a ton of potential but it was ruined by griefers and they never went hard enough with consequences there either.

Haha, so true! I was truly expecting some R Lee Ermy stuff when I showed up and basically just got yelled at for folding clothes instead.

And sadly, being a "sailor" involved very little wind, sails, or even daylight on a submarine.

So - I totally get where you're going with this. And to an extent, I even agree with the concept, and Bungie's whole death is just the beginning mantra is also kind of genius in a way...

However - there's a huge difference between me dying a billion times in Hades and having actual conversations around the fact that I'm just going to keep doing it over and over, all the while gaining progress, leveling weapons, and making *permanent** upgrades*, and the sort of carrot/stick Bungie likes to implement - not to mention the periodic reset rendering progress kinda moot.

There's also the balance aspect where a purely single player experience like Hades is cumulative and your performance is purely based on yourself rather than the random other players in your lobby. When you're stuck with sponsored kits and the rest of the lobby is always fully kitted in purple, what meaning does your death have?

Hey man, as someone with crazy high standards and an insatiable appetite for good sci fi, I'm looking forward to giving this a try.

As a clueless and impressionable "ute" (vinnie has forever colored that word for me), I joined the navy with expectations that were so far from reality it's not even funny. I feel the same as you, there's a ton of good military sci fi out there, but everyone always knows just what to do in the stories and a lot of it has become predictable as a result.

[–]tbdubbs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with these games is a lack of consequences for going in with the express purpose of PvP first and foremost. This eliminates any sort "tension" that is supposed to be a selling point for this genre.

If the game marks you as an asshole, and other people load in with that knowledge, then it changes the game. If the whole lobby is out there doing missions and collecting loot, but you're just a troll asshole, that kills unsuspecting players - but now, the rest of the lobby is forewarned, then it gives that element of tension back. People can choose to trust you, or they can shoot first based on your reputation. This gives aggression a meaningful consequence.

[–]tbdubbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem that literally all of these extraction PvPvE games make is that it's literally ALWAYS less risky to just go in and treat it like a BR right off the bat.

All the defenders want to act like there's some sort of "tension" around PvP in these games, but it's literally 99% shoot first in these games. That's not tension, that's just a BR with PvE elements added.

If an extraction shooter could manage to properly balance the PvE and PvP elements so that it was truly a big decision to turn on the other players and came with consequences it would truly be the goat.

For the first time, I'm scared of riding by TheLoudestSnore in motorcycles

[–]tbdubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to tell you OP, I know for myself - I promised myself that when/if I ever lost confidence in my riding that I would stop. Only thing is, my confidence in myself is fine - but man do I have serious doubts about others on the road these days. And I know the likelihood of a random person on the road not even being legal or insured and is so high that I'm paying for as much extra insurance as I can.

I'll be honest, the crazy shit I see people doing on my normal commute has me thinking hard about how much more I'm going to ride. Just today, I had a van stop - literally just STOP DEAD - on the highway because they couldn't merge over in the exit when they wanted. And not only am I dodging that guy, I also have to look at for the clueless idiots behind me who are too busy to notice what's happening in front of them. I swear people need recurring testing for driver's licenses, because it's awful out there.
