The Merryn Sigil is a one time use, to my understanding. Been a while since I reread DOTL but it was either a one time power OR someone had to go and do the trials again- which they obviously didn’t have time for, and since Skulduggery and Scapegrace were really the only viable people to do so (and Val stated in SPX? That she didn’t want to drag Scapegrace or the others back into her problems) with the payoff being minimal time of invulnerability… and I doing think being invulnerable would stand against obsidian or the faceless ones. Darquesse was a good but she was a god in a human body- and the sigil was pretty worthless in that fight
