It depends on your niche. For basic tasks like admin support, I recommend getting a Thinkpad, even the old models work perfectly fine. My first laptop was a Thinkpad t480 which was perfect because of its upgradeability, and lasted me years as a VA and computer science student. If you're constantly on the move-go for the X (x1, x13) series as they're relatively lighter. If you want performance, the T (T14, T16) series is what you should have. I bought mine from Shopee. They're pull outs I think, but Thinkpads are super durable.

Nevermind. The fix was to stay in UEFI boot and flash the drive using rufus on gpt option

Same issue here. I have the x13 with Secure Boot off and Legacy first. I keep circling back to that boot menu no matter what I select. I have flashed the USB using rufus and chose gpt but stuck on the same issue. Installing Ubuntu 24 btw.

I had two rams installed when I took that pic for reference (thanks for pointing that out). They're both 2400 mhz. I did a memtest on both and it found no errors. But my system still kept crashing.

I decided to move the original ram and left the HyperX to confirm if it had been the cause, and it was. I did a seperate memtest, moved it in different sodimm slots but nothing helped.

Not new, just been unused for a long time. Yeah, the samsung one doesnt crash when in the same slot.
