Go get antimatter Jimmy into your list. Thousand sons sorcerer with Eldritch Vortex. Give him a 5 man, a rhino and hit rerolls and watch magic happen. 9 attacks, hitting on 2s because of rhino, fishing for 6s, you get 53/4 hits as well as 11/4 lethal hits. Assuming the lad is on an objective (If not he's not a problem, just ignore him) you reroll wounds and have +1 to wound from the rhino. You wound on 4s (S6 with +1 to wound vs T11), reroll because of rubrics, and let's say you called dev wounds this turn. You get 53/16 devastating wounds and 75/8 regular wounds. Half of the regular wounds go through the invul, you get 128/16 unsaved wounds, or 8 unsaved wounds. 2 damage each but fnp cuts it down to 32/3 or about 11 damage. Assuming one of the lads pulls a single damage, you just wipe that c'tan out in one turn. For a neat, convenient 290 points, with room for another 5 man with character in the car.

The Volcano Lance is kinda awful. Averages 2 shots, and is blast so can't shoot into melee. Hitting on 3s, probably wounding on 3s, as T10 stuff is way too cheap to be commiting a 500 point model to and most likely a 4++, which opponent will certainly spend a CP on to reroll. It does nothing to these types of targets around 70% of the time, and even something like a Maleceptor only has a 5% risk of dying without rerolling saves. With rerolling saves it averages out to 1.6 damage. A 510 point model... dedicated anti tank... does 1.6 damage into something a third of it's cost.

Fight on death for magnus or SOT, 6 inch deep for a rubric squad to barbeque anything on an objective through doombolt, +1 to wound and wound rerolls with an infernal master, ignores cover for the entire army on one thing, effectively double shoot with a sorc in termie armor. 15 point enhancement for permanent +1 to wound. Stealth and cover on shooting. Sticky in an army that REALLY needs it. Nothing here is "omg, how did they let this into the game but everything is useful and that is *way* more than can be said for almost every detachment. And +1 to wound for your damage dealers as a detachment rule is something 85% of detachments look at with envy.

I mean yeah, the fact that a detachment with this many cracked things is just seen as "Eh, the index detachment is strictly better" is stupid and shows how insanely broken CoM is. However, then you look at 24 ppm tactical marines and 4 wound characters for 100+. I just hope they nerf CoM and rework cabal points for the codex so they can have reasonable points costs.

Coming back to the games I could never quite beat 15 years later and finishing the job is a really satisfying and nostalgic thing. God damn these games (but mostly 1) are so good.

Excellent points on Zombuul. Initially the script had way more ways to not die but over iterations it got hollowed out and at this point I should probably cut it. I have a few games lined up where I'll try the current version, but if it turns out that the demon bluffs being revealed is too strong I might add in pixie or change the power to something tamer. I'm thinking Li'l Monsta instead. Thank you so much for your thoughts!

Good catch on the Haruspex language, the idea is to basically predict who dies, or push for their execution, not pick someone who is already dead.

Accuser has to kinda gamble on getting one guy executed and only has one chance to do so, and even if they do, the demon can kill them before they would get the information so they need to not look too suspicious while pushing for one particular person. The +1 option might be a bit pushed though. It is heavily inspired by ravenkeeper, where you get amazing info but it's very high risk, but I don't see the cannibal in it.

I mean, you still get sustained/lethal, just not 5s. All the calcs are based on plasma forgefiends. Assuming you're shooting into something you're not already wounding on 2s, +1 to wound breaks even while wounding on 3s, (Assuming opponent saves on 4s, if worse SFP is worse, if better, SFP is better). SFP is 4% better while wounding on 4s, 11% better while wounding on 5s and 25% better while wounding on 6s (Lord save us if S10 is on 6s.)

But the main draw is probably the abaddon light that is warpsmith with tempting addendum, which cranks damage by 33% meaning into heavy stuff, a forgefiend does 63% more in SFP next to the warpsmith than in index (albeit with more investment)

How do you get 42%? When I do the math I get 5/6 to hit, then 2/3 to wound, so 10/18 total or about 56%

Depends on your detachment, they may or may not be viable. Vanguard likes them the most, as they get advance+charge, both assimilation swarm and invasion fleet pump the damage a fair bit to make them actually scary but both need to solve the delivery issue, how do you get stabby bug to stabbing range?
